Running back Nate Guillory of Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College withdrew his commitment from North Carolina after just one day. Coffeyville coach Jeff Leiker said Thursday that Guillory wants to take his time to consider some other scholarship offers. Guillory's teammate, safety Melvin Williams, remains committed to North Carolina.

Okay, this guy is coming out of a community college which means he's probably a Prop 48, which means he's probably already been through the whole recruiting song-and-dance before. And now he "commits", and backs out after ONE DAY. What a flake. The NCAA is partly liable for tacitly supporting a system that makes this possible. Kids need to be taught to weight all their options before making a commitment, make one, and then HONOR IT.

Lets wait and see if this kid ends up at Arkansas....hint hint

October 26, 2007  08:52 AM ET

Maybe he was forced into a decision he did not want to make. Either that or like The Truth hints at, maybe this kid knows something that we all do not know yet.

At least UNC still has Richie Rich.

Run Richie Rich, Run!

Who do you think has a greater networth? Me or Ritchie Rich?

What team wants a player who does not want to be there. They should be able to back out up into the last minute.
What they should not be able to do is leave early. Thats a crock!

We all know all the good players want to go play for that power house Tarheel football team

October 26, 2007  01:55 PM ET

no matter who the tarheels sign, you can mark my word, coach davis will make the heels a powerhouse

October 26, 2007  03:38 PM ET

That's crazy to think of both South and North Carolina (especially UNC) being powerhouses.

That's just the way it is. Somethings will never be the same... Sorry, that song is on the radio right now.

October 26, 2007  03:44 PM ET

If he just verbally commits it doesn't mean anything. When he signs a letter of intent to go there, that's when it counts.

psmooth said it right. davis will turn UNC into a football powerhouse. They beat the Hurricanes and that wasn't a fluke either.

How 'bout 'em,

Why is it crazier to think of UNC as a powerhouse as opposed to So Car? South Carolina is historically one of the worst programs in the nation, with losing records to both Carolina and dook (dook, people...seriously).

Just because Steve Spurrier came outta nowhere the last few years to "save" the Gamecock program, nothing he has done at South Carolina would match 1997...a year when the Heels were one loss to FSU away from playing in the national championship game.

UNC's program has always, always been better than South Carolina's, up until the last couple years. And let's face it, there's no way the Gamecocks will ever win the SEC East, let alone the whole conference.

And, the line is "somethings will never change," not "somethings will never be the same." Just for the record.
