08:34 AM ET 12.09 | Lou Lamoriello remains in his coach's corner, though speculation has had John MacLean on thin ice nearly all season long. Martin Brodeur has been around long enough to know that Lamoriello picks his spots. "Knowing Lou, it's always when you don't expect it that something is going to happen more than when everybody expects," the goalie said. "You never expect things to happen. We went through that all year, through training camp that something is going to give. Nothing. Just stay put. When he feels it's the right time or the right move to make, I'm sure he'll do it. It's his team so he's putting it together. We're the ones going out and playing."

no pic? ...
anywho, I think Lou should wait until, say, April to make any decisions

If you wanna hang out you've got to take her out; Rogaine.
If you wanna get down, down on the ground; Rogaine.
She don't lie, she don't lie, she don't lie; Rogaine.

At this point they are on their way to earning a good draft pick. They aren't going to make the playoffs why change things this season? I feel bad for Hedberg, signs with a team that always wins from a team that always loses only to have NJ crap the bed and Atlanta start winning.

I actually agree with you and I'm a Devil fan...I'm not sure if Lou will be able to trade some of his older vets, but I don't doubt he will give it a try. I also don't doubt we will have no clue what is going on because the man never speaks to the media, even when he speaks to the media. Anyone want Brian Rolston for $5 mil for another yr and half?

At least this one is using a hockey analogy - on thin ice. Progress in the FN world ;)

LMAO - Ya really don't want to mix those up when talking to the ladies. Telling them you're really viral may not get you laid much.

Tho, one may lead to the other.

True enough. And speaking of nasty viruses...good luck tonight against the Laffs. Let's Go Flyers!

Martin Brodeur has been around long enough to know that...

He's not the same goalie without Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer playing in front of him.

Actually he was the same goalie, but father time catches up to everyone.

Yea, with the way the Flyers have been playing lately, it's been a gift of scheduling to have the Devils, Isles and Leafs. Not going to get very far giving up 4-1 leads in the 3rd period too often.

Ed Zachary. And I agree in feeling bad for the Moose. Alas, thems the breaks!

Forgot to add Ken Daneyko into the equation of d-men playing in front of him...I guess he hasn't been the same since he turned 31 then.

to quote Bob Barker to Happy Gilmour " the time is wrong B*TCH"

I believe he has 3 Vezina's since then...plus first team NHL a few times and second team NHL. Besides for that though he hasn't been the same.
You also forgot to add Rafalski

December 9, 2010  11:33 AM ET

the bids for Parise's playoff services are going to be coming in from everywhere. Unlike that clown Kovalchuk, this is a guy that will definitely help put you over the top.

December 9, 2010  11:44 AM ET

Don't forget Brian Rafalski's time in NJ too - Brodeur had some serious d-men in front of him.

The one thing about Lou is he's loyal. Not usually to his coaches, mind you, but MacLean is more than just his coach. He's a big part of what made the Devils the respected organization they've been for 15 years. This puts him on a different level than a Robbie Ftorek for instance. Should buy him till at least after Christmas, haha.

But honestly, who would want to step in and take the job? 2nd worst team in the league. Star player with more power than the coach. GM who fires coaches on a hair trigger, with a roster that won't be any better any time soon. Unless Uncle Lou wants to take the helm of this sinking ship himself (doubtful - he wouldn't mess with his coaching win/loss % like that) then he may just be stuck with MacLean for the year.
