The Arizona State men's basketball program got a second commitment Thursday for the freshman class of 2009-10, as San Leandro (Calif.) High School guard Jared Cunningham who told various recruiting services that he plans to sign a letter of intent with Sun Devils. Cunningham, a junior at San Leandro High, averaged 12.1 points a game as a sophomore last year. He is listed at 6 feet 3 and about 175 pounds. One recruiting service ranks him as the nation's ninth best point guard prospect in the class of 2009. UCLA, Gonzaga, California, Oregon and Oregon State were reported to have interest in him.

Yes, ASU is said to be the all-time party school of the world. No academic rep whatsoever, but great women.

ASU has fantastic Business & Engineering programs.

Oh, and the party scene is insane.

October 26, 2007  05:30 PM ET

I dont think he picked it cuz of da party scene. It was purely an academic decision<gut busted>

Hot Girls on Hot Days... Nothing wrong with that!

Yes, dsppappo, that is why Jared picked ASU: its fine Business and Engineering Programs. Academically ASU is a joke! It's been a party school forever.

with an undergrad student body of 55,000 or so, there's plenty going on academically AND plenty of party. But I'd imagine the real reason this kid's going there is all the money ASU is pouring into athletics right now: they should be top-tier pac-10 programs in football and basketball, and Lisa Love is doing whatever she can to make that happen.
