Foley offering the nation's best coaching job?

08:18 AM ET 12.10 | The Outback Bowl took a back seat Thursday to a Wednesday storyline. Politely, the PR rep tried to redirect the questions back to why everyone had gathered in the club level of Raymond James Stadium on Thursday. Any questions about the bowl, about this matchup? he asked. ... With all due respect, one of the best coaches in the country just left the best job in the country. Arguably the premier coaching job in college football opened up when Meyer stepped down on Wednesday, and it'd be a fairly easy argument if you want to make it. Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley won't. "I think you'd be arrogant to say that because there's a lot of good ones out there," he said.

It's among the top with USC, Texas and Ohio State I would think.

'Morning all.
Foley's intellegent enough to know he doesn't need to say it - the whole country already knows it is.

It's probably the best one available right now. It's one of the easier ones to recruit at, the school is dedicated to have top notch facilities, and it pays very well.

So one of the best coaches in the land, left the " Best " gig in the land? I'm being serious, I really hope Urbie is ok health-wise.

I would think USC and Texas are the top jobs because of the location edge...followed by Florida. It doesn't help that Gainsville is a dump.

I probably had a chance, but went out for my mom's birthday and had Lobster Thermidor at the Bonefish Grill and then followed it up with Dairy Queen cake at might folks house.

Lots of rumor that he told the team it was a health thing (which relates to a family thing), but obviously just emphasized "family" to the press.

I like CK, but don't see that happening. As of 8:59am EST I have CP as my #2.

If one can handle the fickle and unreasonably expectant SEC fans then yes, the Gators job is for them.

Florida and Texas would be my top 2. For tax reasons alone.
