09:39 AM ET 12.11 | The message from the Royals is clear regarding their willingness to trade former Cy Young winner Zack Greinke: If you're interested, call and make an offer. Don't wait for us to call you. "Nothing has really changed," general manager Dayton Moore said. "I haven't made one call to one organization asking them if they're interested in Zack Greinke or any of our players. I'm not shopping any of our players."

KC may not be shopping him, but the market place is open.

Who's gonna get the poor man's Cliff Lee?

December 11, 2010  12:21 PM ET

Free agency ruined baseball.

And Richard Nixon is not a crook....

December 11, 2010  12:33 PM ET

HA HA. I love this. It's like saying "I'm not looking to sell my car, but if you call and make me an offer... you can drive it home."

December 11, 2010  12:53 PM ET

Nah, the Royals are basically saying that Zack is the missing piece to get you there and it's gonna cost ya.

December 11, 2010  01:32 PM ET

If I were a GM in say Nyu Yawk or Texa$$ I would go for a Greinke deal over Lee, based on the crazy dinero it's going to take Lee to sign and other factors such as age, potential upswing, number of innings on each guy's arm. Of course you have to balance that out with how many (and quality of) prospects the Royals are going to want in return.

December 11, 2010  01:34 PM ET

if a team would like to add greinke to their rotation they have to offer a very good set off high skill players ready to play on the majors!!!

they should cut the league to 2 teams ... the yankees and the best of the remaining players

ur a bozo did the yankees win the world series last year? or did they even make it to the world series? the rangers and giants did

December 11, 2010  02:20 PM ET

When a team says they're not shopping a player, what they really mean is "Please make us an offer".

The yankees spend about a billion dollars ever 4 years just on player payroll... and they've won 1 championship in the last 10... apparently money can't buy everything... I hope they sign Lee, so in three years they'll be paying a bunch of 35+ year old ball players an insane amount of money, and won't be able to trade away any of their bad contracts... free agency has become a joke!

The Yankees spend a billion dollars every four year on players contracts, and have won 1 out of the last 10 world series. 2.5 billion dollars for one world series. They don't have the mojo they did in the 90's and if they sign Lee (which I hope they do), then three years from now they'll be paying almost 200 mill a year to players over the age of 35. And who are they going to trade these stupid contracts to? It looks good on them. A-rod is just going to break down, now that he can't do his roids. They just gave 51 mill to a short stop with no range and was barely a .270 hitter last year. If there going to win, it'll have to be next year, cause the wheels won't take long before they fall off. And when it happens, Yankee fans are going act like they never saw it coming.
