08:20 AM ET 12.13 | And then there were two. The Nationals are out of the Cliff Lee sweepstakes, a baseball source told MLB.com on Sunday night. No reason was given as to why the left-hander passed on Washington. ... With Lee out of the picture, the Nationals are still searching for starting pitching. Look for them to try to acquire a pitcher such as Rays right-hander Matt Garza. Washington would love to have right-handed ace Zack Greinke, but the Royals feel the Nats aren't a good trade match. Kansas City wants starting pitching, a right-handed-hitting outfielder and an infielder -- most opposing teams want shortstop Ian Desmond and right-hander Jordan Zimmermann.

Do the Nats have the ammunition to get Garza? I don't know many of their prospects

TB needs to trade. They will find the best deal they can.

I think it's because the Nationals stink? I could be wrong........

The Nats are doing some great things. If they can keep their young stars, they could be about two years away from being pretty darned good. But until they improve their record, it won't be apparent to most.

Was the Werth signing a "great" thing?
Or is it their 1st round picks they got for sucking that is great?

the nationals need to buil around a player who can motivate the rest of the roster!

Well, they have arguably the 2 best prospects in baseball in Strausburg and Harper.

Props to the Nats for actually trying to make their team better. Pretty soon the Mets will be the laughing stock of that division.

But they will not be trading those guys. I wonder who they will have that they would move

Dear lord... how many Asian scam websites in a row are we going to be seeing? As for the Nats and trades... I'd rather them just throw around some money and sign some bridge SPs. No sense trading building blocks when you're two years away from competing.

the nationals have been bad for awhile so they probably have a bunch of good prospects
