Brewers in hunt for Greinke, too?

08:23 AM ET 12.13 | Could Zack Greinke be on the move from one small market to another? The Royals have been coy about their willingness to deal their ace, but interested parties will encourage them to listen. A source familiar with the Brewers' offseason maneuvering said they have been in contact with the Royals about Greinke, who has two years remaining before free agency. The Brewers supposedly are on Greinke's no-trade list, but that can be overcome. Whether the Brewers would be willing to part with the number of prospects the Royals would require to deal Greinke remains to be seen.

So you're basically saying the Brewers like him. Who DOESN'T love a Cy Young pitcher?
He has a no trade against them, and the Brewers may not even have the prospects necessary (hasn't even been explored!).
Great reporting.

I played in H.S. with Zack, he was a freshman my senior year and was the best player on one of best teams in the state as a freshman. As hard as it may be to believe, he didn't pitch until his junior year and was actually a better hitter than he was a pitcher. It was his hitting, not pitching, that won him Gatorade National Player of the Year and I was disappointed when I learned he would be only a pitcher in the pros, and even more disappointed to see him get drafted by an American League team, especially the Royals. I've been waiting for him to go the the National League ever since, so whether it's the Brewers or the Nationals (the two National League teams I've heard are making a play for him) it doesn't matter to me, I just want to see him hit again!!!

"Moore has focused on adding up-the-middle position players who are close to major league ready."
So how do the Brewers not have what KC is looking for in a trade? They could offer some combination of Lorenzo Cain, Eric Farris, Logan Schafer, or even Alcides Escobar, for starters plus one or two more prospects. They'd be foolish not to take a deal with Cain and Escobar in it!

Greinke isn't going any where until Lee makes up his mind. The royals are waiting to see where he goes, so other teams (mainly Yanks and Rangers) will use him as a back up plan. The royals are hoping that there will be competition to get him, which would sweeten the offers they receive. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't go any where, considering the year he just came off of, and what the Royals are asking for.
