08:55 AM ET 12.13 | It's not uncommon to hear Los Angeles Clippers fans heckle Baron Davis. Of late, however, the jeers directed at the team's struggling point guard are coming from a far more surprising source: The man paying Davis, Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who usually sits court side at home games. Sterling has expressed his displeasure about Davis' play by taunting him from his courtside seat at Clippers' home games, several sources told Yahoo! Sports. Among Sterling's verbal barbs: "Why are you in the game?" ... "Why did you take that shot?" ... "You're out of shape!"

Why is Davis in the game? You offered him that contract.

lol, so very true. When looking for the guilty look no further than the mirror.

It's all fan and games. It's good to have an owner interested enough to show up for games as some owners like Prokhov sit in Russia and talk **** while their team losses. He may be racist but with the jabs he's throwing from court side he's clearly playing his cards right. Baron has to take some responsibility as well... if he was in shape like the rest of the league none of this would be happening. If you suck we'll let you know. It don't matter if its from fans or the owner... if you suck you suck.. do something about it Biddy!

That's crazy. Isn't there a way to get control of the team away from this guy

December 13, 2010  10:11 AM ET

Am I missing something? Is it fair to throw the racist card out there? Because to be honest... Baron isn't playing at the level of his contract and probably does deserve the criticism.

I've always liked and defended Davis...until now. I can think of no reason whatsoever for a player being out of shape. It's not like he has a real job. As far as I'm concerned, his only responsibility is to take care of his body. There is no reason for him allowing himself to blow up to 270lbs.

I thought it was just me. Sterling's a lot of things but can it really be said that he's a racist based on his comments directed toward Davis? He is, after all, out of shape. Maybe it's his back, maybe it's lousy work ethic. Maybe it's both. But neither owes to race and nothing Sterling is reported to have said suggests otherwise.

"Unhinged" seems to be a more accurate descriptor of our man Sterling.

I'm not too familiar with this, but I think lostwill was referring to the alleged housing discrimination.

holy christ- is he really 270?I do agree with you though 100%. being out of shape as a professional athlete is inexcusable

The method of sending the message to Davis is not professional but Sterling is right. Why is Davis on the court? He is a shell of the player he used to be and possibly a bad influence on Gordan and Griffin. Ship him out of LA please.

Everybody chill. Baron is not out of shape. He must have 10% body fat. He's in good physical condition. He may be lacking stamina. That's it. Next time you see him, notice that he is lean. He's leaner than Kobe, who I think didn't come in to this season in the best condition.
