08:26 AM ET 12.15 | Though without a headlining free agent signing to trumpet, the Mets aren't without good news. Jason Bay, whose inaugural season with the Mets ended on July 25 when concussion-related headaches did not allow him to play the remainder of the year, indicated Tuesday he is feeling well and the issue appears behind him. Bay said a persistent, low-grade headache finally vanished in late September and has not resurfaced, despite resuming strenuous workouts at his offseason home in Seattle. ... He is confident the issue is fully behind him because his current workouts are more rigorous than the baseball activities he will resume in January.

That must be great news for the Mets! Now healthy, he can go back to playing poor defense and striking out a ton, giving the manager the headaches. Hey, Sandy Alderson, it ain't just the Nationals with contracts to laugh about.

September, when there was no more chance of him having to go to the plate and prove what a bad signing the Mets made...then the headaches went away, check.

He's leaving? Oh sorry, my bad, didn't mean to get your hopes up Mets fans.

December 15, 2010  11:55 AM ET

Do you think he might miss fenway ?

December 15, 2010  11:58 AM ET

Yeah, a career .278 hitter who averages 30 home runs and 105 RBIs a season. What a **** to have on your team.

Jason leaving the BoSox is another win for Theo and his staff. Bay was a hot FA a year ago and many Sox fans were upset that the team didn't make a real effort to be competitive in signing him.
Now Carl Crawford is going to be in left field and Jason is an old memory; who would you rather have? Jason is a nice guy, and let's hope his medical issues are behind him and he has a good year, but the Sox don't miss him.

ding ding ding...it sucked that last year was a "rebiulding" year but...this will be much better in boston

Will look forward to those 6 home runs and 40 RBI's again in 2011.

it looked like an injury year. Who did they add last year to rebuild?

December 15, 2010  01:24 PM ET

bay, it doesn't have guarantee on his own health, from my point of vew, he is just trying to calm the waters down, and give the mets fans renew hopes on 2011 season!

Good point; Belte and Victor M. were one year rentals until they could bid on longer term talent.

Jason Bay is not missed even in Nuttingville!

Only long ter add that I recall was Lackey and he was miserable.

The red sox made a good move letting him go and getting a-gon to replaces his homers and rbi's. But Bay will still produce he was starting to get going with the mets when he got hurt. This year he ll do alot better he may strike out alot but so did alot of home run hitters and rbi guys from the past

Another horrible signing by Minaya. A monkey could have done a better job.
