Kobe brokering Bulls trade
Kobe Bryant wants to play for the Bulls -- very, very much, I am told -- and it's time, people, to start seriously pondering the possibility. Because Bryant himself is the power broker behind the intensifying trade talks, a free agent without the free agency, privately demanding which players should be in the deal and which should not. What he wants is what Bulls GM John Paxson wants: To be paired with Luol Deng in a newfangled version of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, the shooter and the slasher, the egomaniac who needs the ball like air and water and the unselfish humanitarian who would complement him perfectly.

If the Bulls somehow pull this off, it will be a great day for Chi-town and the Eastern Conference. A Chicago-Boston Final would be amazing.
Anyway, I still think that PHX will get the ring in late May...

I'm starting to warm up to this trade, especially if the Bulls keep Deng, but I would still not want the trade to go through if LA wanted both Thomas and Noah. Both of those gusy are going to provide the rebounds and rest for Wallace that Nocioni and Joe Smith can't really provide.

The Bulls still have potential & with another yr under their belts & their almost winning last yr in the playoffs over the Cavs. If they just had more of a down-low scoring presence which a trade for Kobe doesn't exactly provide this so why do it. The Bulls have financial freedom & aren't completely invested in 1 player as are the Lakers, so why again would the Bulls want to do this. Reinsdorf needs to step up his franchise was set back many yrs w/the loss of Jordan & why would he want to get rid of the youth Deng, Gordon, Thomas, & or Noah for one guy who is a super-star, but has shown that he can just as well be a cancer if he doesn't get his way w/players surrounding him to his liking & that is of course after he has gotten his 20Mil+/yr. The price of Deng & Gordon soon will be 10mil+/yr & Thomas & Noah are signed for like 2-3 yrs relatively cheaply so why again should the Bulls put all their eggs in one basket?? Ok how would the Bulls match up w/the Celtics if they got rid of Deng, Gordon, Thomas, & Noah. Ok Kobe matches up w/say Paul Pierce, Hinrich matches up w/Rando, Duhon matches w/Ray Allen, Ben Wallace matches w/KG, but who would then match up against Kendrick Perkins-Nocioni?? This messes up the Bulls entire rotation. Deng has to stay, Thomas, & Noah have to stay. Gordon could be traded, but I would rather trade Hinrich who seemed to show his true colors under the playoff pressure last yr. Joe Smith & Ben Wallace are only going to be around for a few more yrs but Noah, Thomas & others provide the youth. NO BULLS don't screw up your futures!! Plus, Kobe has just injured his hand & his character & team loyality is now being called into question by Phil Jackson!!

Things that I like about this trade idea: Kobe can score inside/outside and in crunch time. He will open up (easy) opportunities for others (if Kobe will pass the rock).
Thinks I don't like: Any trade that includes Deng. Kobe is selfish and probably not a good teammate. Not sure he'll play any D so that already puts him on the outs with Skiles.
This seems like a fair trade (and I admit I'm not considering cap dollars here): Gordon (I would think a sign and trade), Nocioni, Noah plus whatever scrub the Lakers want. I would even throw in next year's 1st rounder as it would be a low pick anyway.

I would give up Gordon and Thomas and throw Wallace in for $$$ relief reasons. If Wallace has to stay, then so be it. Wallace and Kobe won't be around for long anyway, whether or not this "get rich quick" scheme pays off.

I am not sure of this idea about Kobe being a selfish player.
Teams want to win...the best shooter usually gets to take the shots.
Not too many players shoot as good as Kobe.
Was it becasue he just wants a better team and things need to change and speaks up about it and uses everyone for his own purpose?
He wanted some booty in Denver....? Most men want some booty in Denver.
Michael Jordan....the legend....no one is ever going to be as better, as exciting...as good....as money....NO ONE. I don't care if you bring in an 8-foot Freakenstein. No ONE is ever going to top Jordan. Lebron....no way, he's good...but he does not have - "IT".
Jordan virtually transformed - in many ways - right befoire our eyes....from one version to the next until it was ALL IN ONE. A complete package.
Kobe is Kobe and he is never gonna be Jordan.
People...you have to be real about this fact of life.
Some buttt-hole on the Lakers management has pissed him off and he wants out. What's the big deal ??
Any team that he goes to...that has some sort of a foundation....of defense....and the "basic" basketball....pro level team playing game.....he will make a championship contender immediately.
He needs a true Center and a true passing and shooting guard.
Have you tried picking a fantasy team....helll-of-a-lot different than NFL and MLB.....totally different ballgame. The "talent" is limited....OR so obscure....it's mind boggling.
Bring in Kidd and say....Jermaine Oneal are they contending then ? Or...Kidd and Artest ?
The Lakers ahve not made the moves....maybe they are so screwed-up that they cannot.

Everybody knew Kobe Bryant thought he was the GM with the Lakers but this tops it. Not only does he want to pick his destination, he wants to dictate which players are traded. If that cancer wants to go so bad, he should have the balls to waive his no-trade clause.

This still doesn't fulfill what the Bulls need: a viable inside scoring presence. Anyone care to remember that monster Kobe won all those championships with? You know, that Shaq guy?
Notice that the last few NBA champions haven't always had mega stars (Pistons) but the did have people who could score in the post (Tim Duncan, Sheed, Shaq etc.). Also realize that the losers (Mavs, Cavs) haven't had any true consistent post threat. The Bulls need a post threat to draw down defenders to open up shots or give more slashing ability to all three perimeter players. Once that happens, the Bulls are the favorite to win the east and possibly the championship.
They should've kept LaMarcus Aldridge when they drafted him.
Also if this trade involved Heinrich it would be way more devastating than people can imagine. He's a superb game manager and Duhon running the point would be frightening to say the least.

Superstars win championships. Name a team other than the Pistons to do it in the last 30 years.
If this were to happen, i have 2 questions
1) Can the Bulls commit that much money to the backcourt and still sign Deng to an extansion? I don't think they can (but i'm no cap expert), maybe until they have to sign Deng - so Hinrich would have to be part of the deal or dealt latter.
2) Can Skiles and Kobe co-exist? As they long as they win, they should be able to keep civil. If not, two years tops.

Every scenario seems to not just give Chicago the edge, but the championship while the Lakers just [supposedly] get better or at least get rid of a cancer. Therefore, I would not let Kobe go to the Bulls if Deng was not part of the deal. Why create the second coming of MJ/Pippen? Giving up your very best, deserves the same from your trade partner.

What is Kobe's problem, the guy is psycho over his legacy and being better than Jordan. He will copy Jordan in every way by the time he's done. He'll make Deng change his jersey to Pippen.
And the 79 Sonics won without a superstar.

I agree with Ocpete. The Lakers already suffered through an unfair trade when we gave away Shaq once. There's no need to repeat that history. So if we must lose our best player, we should get their best player in return.
Kobe is a terrible cancer. If he has any real balls, he would give up that no-trade thing in his contract and allow the Lakers to work the trade in a fair manner.

Too bad for Kobe that he cares more about his "Beat Out Jordan" fantasy than any fan base.
Though I wish him well where ever he goes, if he doesn't grow up and realize that his legacy is not dependent upon an artificial competition but on his own loyalty and play, he will never be one of the true greats.
As for those Chigago fans that hope that they will steal the best player in the Nba, without giving up their best 'potential' plus big Ben, and more, to the point where they will need to rebuild over a at least two years,.. I say don't hold your breath.
Buss was a fool once and I don't think he will be that again in this life time..
