08:50 AM ET 12.17 | Zack Greinke's no-trade clause allows him to block trades to only 15 teams, setting up some intruding possibilities. [The no-trade] list includes the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals, according to a major league source. However, Greinke could be traded to the Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Angels or Detroit Tigers without his permission. The Kansas City Royals are open to moving Greinke, who has two years and a total of $27 million left on his current contract.

Hmmmmm...
It would be an upgrade no doubt over Porcello- bit what it would cost in the long run- I'll pass...

I see a lot of talk about him, but not too many interested parties?

December 17, 2010  09:41 AM ET

A lot of big market teams on the no-trade list.

That tells me enough about him.

December 17, 2010  09:41 AM ET

Exactly ... because the Royals are asking for your best 2 prospects just to start talkin. I hope the rangers wait them out. Closer to the trading deadline when they realize they cant get that kind of haul for 1 player.

Why would anyone want to give up their best prospects for what might be a head case? He may be fine but not worth that steep a price.

He has won a cy young dont tell me he cant take pressure. He is weird though, no doubt. His ability however cant be questioned

December 17, 2010  10:04 AM ET

Can he be traded to Philadelphia? They need a 5th starter to upgrade over Joe Blanton.

One could argue that he won the Cy Young because he had no pressure pitching in KC.

Indeed it could, just seems to me hes a spaz more than the shut in they make him out to be

Would be happy to have Greinke on the Tigers-no problem.

for Oliver, Turner, Rhymes or Sizemore, and Boesch?

No dice man. As a Tigers fan, I couldnt give up all of that for Greinke. We already have alot of Right handers... If he were a lefty I would be more inclined but still...

December 17, 2010  11:57 AM ET

He's not a headcase like Manny or Joey Belle...he has an anxiety disorder...when medicated, he is good enough to win a Cy...when he isn't, well, keep him away from the steak knives...

Totally different head cases. Those guys were/are a problem because it is hard to keep them motivated/make them care when the going gets tough for them personally. Greinke has an anxiety disorder, meaning that he would care too much, and the pressure on any big stage to not let his team and fans down would make him freeze up completely. Unusual to see (or at least to see admitted) in a professional athlete, but certainly not unusual in the general public.

I'll never forget where I was when Manny hit his one $4 million HR for the White Sox.

I bet it was spectacular!
