Richt: No disrespect intended
Maybe, in hindsight, Mark Richt should have drawn up the play a little better. Instead the Georgia coach allowed his players to wing it. There was no script to follow, just simple instructions to heed: "When we score that first touchdown against Florida we are going to celebrate. Not just the person who scored, the Georgia coach said. "As a team we will celebrate. I was envisioning the guys on the field that were on offense to go celebrate until the official threw the flag," Richt said Sunday following a victory over Florida. "I didn't tell the whole team run off the sideline and go celebrate. I said I wanted it to be a team celebration. I didn't really expect the whole mass to run off the sideline but when they started running I was like, 'I guess that is what they heard me say.' "The entire team they took off and I was like, 'Oh boy.' "

Normally I'd be PO-ed about that. But hey one time is ok. But no more ok guys. Lets act like we have scored a touch down before. Lets hope that was a one time event. And yes, it worked BIG time...Great game on both sides..

Great move in my opinion. I hate to see Florida loose but that was a great game and with the college game's only throwing fullback (Teebow) hurt, the FL offense struggles.
Watching the Penn State-OSU game after this one reminded me of just how great southern football is.

I was hoping that they would publish this story. I was reading about it all of last night.
The dawgs did need some emotion going into that game b/c they had none in the Tennessee game. That and tennessee ripped us a new orifice b/c of the off week.

I noticed after we got the penitiles and before he kick off, the Florida coach tried to fire his guys up. It just seemed like they could not get up as much. Still was a good game on both sides. And think about this. The next 2 or 3 years we play should be games that will go down in history. We both have Sophmore QBs and a young defense...I'm already excited about the next 2 out door cocktail parties..

I'm happy that Georgia won, but that was classless on Georgia's part.

I thought it was cool......but I agree with BR549. If it starts happening on every TD it won't be cool.

Yea that was a one time deal. Let's just hope it doesn't catch on to rivalry games across the country. It wasn't classless because it was during the game and the were penalized for it. If it was after the game you cannot be penalized. Florida fans quit your crying. I love the look on Urban Myers face after the celebration ( Oh **** we are going to lose this game)

Let it happen to one of your teams and see how cool it is, Georgia is lucky they didn't lose or they would have looked like fools.

I didn't find it disrespectful, but I also don't think it psyched Florida out at all. The Florida sideline got pumped when they did that. I don't think it affected the outcome of the game nearly as much as Florida's young defense falling apart.

I thought is was AWESOME! I do think it pumped UF up as well. But their defense is just horrible. 9 straight running plays and they couldn't touch Knowshean Moreno. UF fans should be embarrassed by the lack of performance by that defense. GO DAWGS!

IMO Richt is a good guy and I believe him when he says his words were misconstrued. He just wanted to motivate his own team, not disrespect Florida. It wasn't mean spirited or lacking in class at all and you certainly can't argue with the result. At least that's how I see it and I'm not a Georgia fan, either. LSU's my team.
