Will new-look Suns lose Nash?

10:15 AM ET 12.19 | While Alvin Gentry vowed again Saturday that Steve Nash is not going to be traded this season, the Suns are moving in a new tactical direction. Without torrential bursts of offense from Jason Richardson, the team has less firepower. And if Marcin Gortat is the key to the deal, that means we're one step closer to conventional basketball.

I think phoenix clearly won as they got rid of turk and picked up a big for himI still am though baffled by phoenix management as they change their approach every few months.First they trade shaq, thn raesign nash, then let amare go, then trade for turk, then move turk.I mean are they rebuilding? Reloading? Retreading? What are they? This asembled squad is not competing for a title and seem to be basically a collection of mid-level talent that has no long term plan/ upside. I'm still confused

They need to decide if they want to continue to be a run-and shoot team like last year or want to switch to a more half-court based scheme. Maybe getting Gortat is the start of the latter. I would move Nash now while he has top value and re-build. The only problem with that theory is they re-signed Channing Frye and added Hakim Warrick in the offseason. They are not goos half court players. they would have to make some more moves to make that work.

Gortat is an athletic big man who comes from a soccer background. I think he would do well in a running offense if they decided to continue that approach.

I didn't know that about Gortat...but the run-and-shoot game may be fun to wqtch and fill out box scores but it rarely if ever parlays into championships. That's why I would re-build now by getting rid of Nash because this team is going nowhere with what they have in place now

If I was the Knicks I would rather keep Felton and whoever else they would have to give up rather than get Nash...The Knicks are another year or two away before they can seriouslt contend for the east. Rushing that now with Nash makes no sense

Back on Dec 4, Saturday the Magic played the Bucks without Howard,...

Gortat started had 10 reb, 2 points, foul out, vs Bogut 18 reb, 2 blocks, 31 points...

good luck Phoenix

You can't expect a guy who hardly plays to make a big impact in one game. It takes time and a couple of years before you can dominate. The guy is good and I'd take him on my team any day.

And how exactly are they supposed to do that? After getting Nash they would have nothing left to trade
