Can trades keep Howard in Orlando?

11:30 AM ET 12.19 | Know this about such dramatic changes: Imperfect pieces like Hedo Turkoglu and Gilbert Arenas will be elevated simply by standing on the same court, and in the same uniform, as Howard. And if it doesn't work? Then Howard, a colossal talent who is privately envious of the Celtics' Hall of Fame core and the free-agent coup pulled off by James and Wade, will have one giant foot out the door. Howard's agent, Dan Fegan, took a more diplomatic approach in praising the Magic for the moves. "It's no secret that Dwight Howard is about winning a championship," Fegan told CBSSports.com. "A number of teams in the East have significantly upgraded their talent level. In order to compete, the trades consummated [Saturday] are important and represent a significant upgrade in talent."

Come to LA, Bro.

Didn't help Cleveland fans bowing to Lefakes trade wishes.
Expect Orlando to be a lottery team after Howard leaves.

I'm not sure what happened here. If they traded for Paul, that's another thing, but a trade for Arenas?? Bad knees and bad attitude. Bad trade IMO.

With the trade Orlando made they can still spread the floor with shooters but they are taking a big gamble that Arenas will return to form.

Has this guy ever posted a quote more that one sentence long? 99 percent of his quotes say "Come to LA, Bro.". You got anything more to say then that Bro?

This is just a desperate measure sucking up to their franchise player. Remember players have less loyalty to their team and city.

Gilbert is a heck of a player. If he gets his head on straigh that is. NBA should do away with guaranteed contracts, just like the NFL. That way players that sign BIG contracts won't slack off after signing a contract. Anyone remember Stephon Marbury who was making almost $20M a year sitting on the bench.

good trade i say now their lack of scoring ability is taken care of and all you guys who say bad contracts all them except hedo is two years its a good gamble and orlando without howard is 40 win team and i got new nba 2k11 team

Does Orlando have a gun policy?

'Significant upgrade in talent'?DisagreeSignificant uptake in contracts.......yes

I just don't see how all of the new additions are going to be productive. Arenas should start at the two if they want to give him the offensive freedom he needs but what happens at small forward. If either Turkoglu or Richardson starts they will have to adjust to being a third option. Not to mention they need another big.

Thats not old at all. It will always be relevant. Arenas was stupid enough to bring a gun into an arena and show it off. Off court drama doesn't mean **** if the player stays on the court. Arenas missed the rest of the year because of it, I think that means a whole lot of ****. Its the kind of action and stereotype that will haunt someone for the rest of his career

I remember when Detroit signed Gordon and Villiawava. I said something similar, big contract don't mean big production.

Then that could be a really be a bad defensive team. Carter and Lewis were by no means great defenders but they had more length, quickness and athleticsm than they guys that are replacing them. I wonder how Richardson would adjust if he does come off the bench?
