08:02 AM ET 12.20 | Let the speculation begin. Bill Cowher could be ready to return to the NFL. Cowher, the former Steelers coach and a Crafton native, would be willing to return to coaching next season if the head job with the Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans or New York Giants became available. ... The Charlotte Observer reported Saturday that the Carolina Panthers could be interested in Cowher, as coach John Fox's contract apparently won't be extended beyond this season. The jobs of Texans coach Gary Kubiak and Dolphins coach Tony Sparano have been rumored to be in jeopardy. Cowher's name has been linked to the Giants job. Coach Tom Coughlin has one year remaining on his contract, ESPN reported. Dallas, Denver and Minnesota already have fired their coaches and have interim coaches finishing the year.

He's a good coach, I don't see him in New York or Dallas though. Carolina...might be a good fit for him.

Carolina won't pay the $. I think his value has dropped a lot. I think there are fewer owners that want to pay big $ rather than trying to promote a coordinator.

Good point. However, even though he's expensive and they're still paying Childress, it would be interesting to see what he could do with the Vikes.

While he could get the $$ there, he would not want to put up with Jerry inserting himself. He had more freedom than that in the 'Burgh. I think he wants lots more power, something that a team like Miami or possibly Minny would offer.

For him, there isn't. All the G-men get coal in their stockings too! What a bonehead move to kick it to Jackson. I thought I was watching Dallas!

JJ will stick with the status quo. Garrett hasn't given him a reason not to.
