08:25 AM ET 12.20 | Where does the spinning carousel at Maryland leave Danny O'Brien after a storybook season? Disappointed with the decision and confused about his future, according to his high school coach. ... "The two coaches who recruited you to come up to Maryland and you're six hours away, how would you feel?" Willert said. "You're 20 years old, you've done everything they've asked you to do and they pull it right from him. It's a sad thing. That's what sports has come to. It's all about making money, I guess." Todd Willert said that O'Brien left campus around 2 p.m. Friday to drive back home, unaware that discussions were under way that would lead to Friedgen, 63, not returning in 2011. "By the time he gets home trying to celebrate Christmas with his family, that's what he hears," Willert said Saturday.

There's no crying in football. Well, unless you're Rich Fraudriguez!

Just curious...How does a high school coach have a say in this? If the kid complains to his H.S coach, the coach can console the kid, but not have a bully pulpit on the issue.

Damn them for wanting to bring in a new HC that will allow this kid to throw for 4000 yds and 30 TD's a year!!!!! Poor Kid how will he ever recover from that

Yeah, every kid wants to be known as an nfl bust spread option qb. I would, however, be more upset if I was a rb or even the rb coach. Lot of down time on saturdays. Maybe Leach will get to coach the bowl game and crush ruffin

Not really a story. Players generally do support their coach. Every player on the team came to Maryland to play for the Firdge.

I think the real story is that a kid talked to someone he trusted about what he felt was going on and that **** blabbed it to the press to make the kid look like a whiner. Way to go HS coach!

Go pickle yourself in a bottle of alcohol, ya stupid mick!* You'll feel better. Just don't get caught drinking underage.

+1. HS coach was probably promised a job at UM and is pouting about it now.

I agree...

... similar to enjoying yourself at a party with "friends" only to find yourself on youtube because one of your "friends" decided to record and post it online.
