Fan files suit against Jets' Ellis

08:04 AM ET 12.21 | Shaun Ellis is in hot water over a wintry problem. A lawsuit has been filed against Ellis by a Seattle Seahawks season ticket holder for an incident on Dec. 21, 2008, when Ellis picked up a large chunk of snow and tossed it at the fan before exiting the field at the end of the game. Robert Larsen filed the suit to the Kings County Courthouse in Seattle on Dec. 16 and is seeking damages stemming from past and future medical expenses, past and future loss of earning, partial impairment of earnings and earning capacity, mental and physical pain and suffering and a slew of other offenses related to the incident, according to the case documents.

Frivolous lawsuits like this should not only be thrown out, they should be punished. The lawyer and the plaintiff both deserve to pay court expenses and fines, in addition to any legal expenses run up by the defendant.
Both the plaintiff and the lawyer should be forced to watch Seahawks games all next season.
