Pats a destination for Fitzgerald?

08:02 AM ET 12.22 | Though the thought for Patriots fans may be as unlikely as it is appealing, one of the league's top receivers may be available. While the offense has looked pretty impressive over the last month, it still lacks a deep threat. Brandon Tate has yet to do much in that role and hasn't really shown signs he'll do so down the road. This draft should be well stocked with big-bodied, downfield threats. ... If Larry Fitzgerald is shopped by Arizona I would think Bill Belichick would at least do his due diligence. Is that too much to ask for as a Patriots fan? Probably. But keep dreaming. No one thought the team would ever get Randy Moss and ended up getting three-plus great years out of him.

Oh HELL No!!!

Anything is possible given the truckload of draft picks they are sitting on.

doubt it...

If Fitzgerald left, would there even be a reason to attend football games in Arizona?

AGREED!!!

As a Pats guy it would be nice to have a deep threat that isnt a malcontent. Though he would probably serve the NFL better going to a team that is in more need. If he does end up here I definitely wouldnt complain lol.

Unless Fitz is wiling to re-negotiate his contract, or the cap goes away next year, I don't see it happening. Brady gave up his low-pay-to-play-for-a-championship-team thing this season, and I don't think a lot of other top players are going to want to hold their salaries down to accomodate a high-paid guy from outside the fold.

Yeah, he'd be a great addition, but you've got to hold on to the Dan Connelys, too. Look at what happens to other quarterbacks around the league when you try to go with a bargain-basement offensive line. It ain't pretty.

Debbie you aint lying

Not going to happen though the Pats could sure make it interesting for Arizona to have to say no with that vault stuffed full of draft picks they have.

You definitely can't be successful with your ass planted in the turf, or in street clothes on the sidelines.

I'd rather see the money go to Logan Mankins.

Could happen for just that reason. They are loaded with picks next year. LOA......DED.

For now, the New England Patriots have two selections in each of the first four rounds of the 2011 draft.

The Patriots have their own picks plus these:

* First-rounder from Oakland Raiders (for Richard Seymour). Potential top 15
* Second-rounder from Carolina Panthers (from trade at this year's draft). Possibly 1st pick of 2nd round.
* Third-rounder from the Minnesota Vikings (for Randy Moss and seventh-round pick). Minnesota didn't want that pick anyway.
* Fourth-rounder from the Denver Broncos (for Laurence Maroney and sixth-round pick). Better than the nothing that Maroney was producing.

considering this is/was a rebuilding year they need those picks. ;)

12-2 in a rebuilding year. Although, I think that Belichick has more fun at the draft than during the regular season.

I don't think it "serves the NFL better" to have a really great player like Fitz play for a crappy team. They don't get the TV coverage, and a great receiver never gets the recognition he deserves playing his whole career for a dog. If the NFL wants him to play for a "team in need," well, why not leave him in Arizona?

Teams like Pittsburgh or Indy have established quarterbacks and aging receivers. Green Bay and Chicago are also playoff-calibre teams that could find that Fitz is the missing piece they need to get them to the next level, too.

Yeah, I'd like to see him in a Patriot uniform, too. Is there such a thing as too much talent?

As long as they don't do what the Redskins keep trying to do.

Yeah, Denver's picks are gaining value even faster than the Dow Jones.

And don't forget that pair of shoelaces that came along with the Maroney trade, too. They were useless in Denver. Belechick can teach his guys to tie them so they don't trip. It's one of those little things that Josh McDaniels just didn't get.
