08:12 AM ET 12.22 | While the 2010 bowl season has yet to kick into high gear, one website is already calculating a 2011 national title. The Sooners get the nod over Alabama, the early choice at No. 2. But the prognosticators envision a tough road for OU to travel, with four Big 12 teams ranked among the nation's top 11 teams: No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 8 Missouri, No. 10 Texas A&M and No. 11 Oklahoma State. TCU checks in at No. 17 in the extremely early rankings but Texas, coming off a 5-7 season, does not crack the Top 25. The website lists the Longhorns at No. 31, five spots ahead of SMU (No. 36) and 14 places in front of Baylor (No. 45). Texas Tech did not crack the Top 50.

Hey, hasn't it been a little long since the last Notre Dame thread?

STU, why do you say that? Their not favorite to win the 2011 title. LOL.

piratey, actually it is a very fair top-25 for next year, but as you know it could change in a heartbeat.

Is this the same site that said Alabama would win it again this year?

Alabama at #2? McElory is out of eligibility and Ingram will be in the NFL.
Auburn at #5? Cam will be in the NFL. Will Nick Fairley be coming back?
This list assumes a lot ...

Then again, the NFL could lockout and force the kids to stay in school ...

Dr. B-f-G, the NFL could lockout, but IMO I don't think that will happen. Too much money to lose.

Yeah I am with you on that. I heard Auburn is losing quite a few players. Not sure who Bama's QB will be but their team is young so I can see their ranking.
How 'bout those Hogs at #7?

I can assure you that if Texas doesn't improve a lot Mack will start feeling the heat. OU, Aggies, Mizzou and Okie State ahead of them? That's unacceptable 2 years in a row in Austin. And it should be.

Aren't they somebody's favorite every year?
Including the one just past? I think it was Phil Steele.
We know how that worked out.
Pure speculation at this stage. Any rankings before the end of spring ball are totally meaningless...and even those are sketchy at best.

A lot of people hope for that. I guess it all depends on who gets what pick.

It is but most people thought Bama would run the table. I sure did. I had no idea they would finish 4th in their own division. Remember, Texas was a top 5 team early season this year too.
