Luck no lock for Panthers

08:06 AM ET 12.27 | Carolina Panthers, you are on the clock. [Wins] by the Broncos and Bengals ensure that the Panthers will have the worst record in the league this year, and the first overall pick that goes with it. Most league observers believe the Panthers covet Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with that pick. But it's no sure thing, just as five years ago it was no sure thing that the Texans would select USC running back Reggie Bush with the first overall pick, despite reports that the Texans had made up their mind to take Bush. ... Luck appears to be a good fit for just about any NFL offense, but perhaps the Panthers' coach won't feel that way. There's also the question of whether Luck will even declare for the NFL draft.

I just don't see what the Panthers would do with all those young QB's with or without Luck.

It will take years for this guy to have a positive impact after seeing how bad the Panthers are right now.

News like this only justifies Andrew's last name.

If he goes there, he'll be nicknamed "Bad". I guess that's better than "Dumb".

You can get the best quarterback in the draft, but if he looks like the ball in a pinball machine because of a bad offensive line, then it ain't no use. Keep Clausen, trade down, and get some big ogres to protect the kid.

Yeah, but you have to wonder about their stock considering they pretty much tried all of them this season, and all of them pretty much sucked.

That's not necessarily true. Look the Panthers aren't the best team in the league but they do have parts there, they have had injuries on the O line. Look what Bradfor has done for the Rams. They were terrible and in one year with him look how much they have inproved. From what I hear Luck is the kind of frachise player you do not pass on. Hopefully he enters the draft and the Panthers pick him up. You need that type of player to build off of.

Right here... Clausen doesn't have a chance back there, and Luck wouldn't either. This team has a ton of holes and with a young highly touted QB already there, start working on the others.

O-Line...
That appears to be the primary weakness here.

In hindsight, that was the same argument that was posed for the Rams to NOT draft Sam Bradford last April. They drafted him anyway and it hasn't turned out too badly.

Better start with the o-line and build from there. They are pitiful up front.

nah they have a goodline just wasnt healthy. I mean there main right tackle was out for the whole year in jeff otah. I think they should take aj green see what clausen can do with an extra weapon like green next year. if he is still bad we will be in postion to get another qb next. plus this is a ob deep draft do maybe they can pick up another qb in the later rounds that they are high on.

I don't remember those reports. But I do remember every draft analyst and sports writer in the nation drooling over Reggie Bush for half a year leading up to Draft Day.
I also remember half the nation ripping the Houston Texans for drafting Mario Williams over Reggie Bush. Anyone still think Houston made a mistake?
