Cowher the answer in Houston?

08:34 AM ET 12.27 | Gary Kubiak and the Texans gave up a 17-point lead to a team with a quarterback making his second start, which makes things hard on the head coach's job security. To Kubiak's credit, he didn't even try to mount a defense. He seems to know where this is heading, and he's handling it with grace. These Texans are his Texans. They are his players and his coaches. General manager Rick Smith is his guy, too. In five seasons, Kubiak and Smith are 36-43. They've had one winning season and zero playoff appearances. There???s no way to argue either of them should keep their jobs. Why wait? Why not change the conversation? McNair should cut the cord with Kubiak and Smith this morning, then spend the rest of his day tracking down Bill Cowher. Let???s not make this thing complicated. Cowher is an easy answer. He brings instant credibility to a franchise that could use some.

Until Kubiak is ACTUALLY fired, this is a pointless story.

Things are supposed to be bigger in Texas, so why not go after a guy with a huge chin?

A whole bunch of words in desperate search for a story. I guess these days you become a journalist after you realize you've grown up without any particular job skills.

Word. If Richardson isn't willing to spend big money to replace Fox, then the Chin is ready to bite into the Big Apple!

I think losing to Denver probably drove the final nail in the coffin for Kubiak in Houston. And now Denver can sit and dream of the magical combo of Kubiak as the HC and Elway in some sort of front office role that doesn't interfere with his various tee times.

Cowher will not be the immediate impact that the Texans need or would want...he would be an improvement, yes, but their Defense sucks big time and until they fix that, you can forget it.

Just the end of Week one, the Texans were being crowned as AFC South world-beaters (not by us in Indy, of course. We knew better). Fifteen weeks later, everything is right in the world.

Perhaps this might be putting too much thought into the subject (unlike the writer of this fine article) but I can see one Giant flaw in this line of thinking (besides the obvious putting carts before horses thing). It makes the assumption that Cowher would want to go anywhere near the Texans. Frankly, I think Cowher has much bigger Fish to fry.
