08:04 AM ET 12.31 | Carmelo Anthony trade talks will heat up again, though they remain suspended in much the same place they have been in recent months. The Denver Nuggets believe the New Jersey Nets are so desperate to make a deal for Carmelo Anthony that they're holding firm on a trade demand of five future first-round draft picks as part of a package to land the All-Star forward, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. "Denver needs to get real," one front-office executive said. "That's not happening." Even so, Nuggets owner Josh Kroenke and general manager Masai Ujiri privately insist they're going to make a team pay a steep price for their franchise player.

How can the league even allow such a trade, 5 first rounders is flat out insane

Lebron is not even worth that! That is going to never happen. Guess Melo will be looking forward to 2011 and Denver is going to be like Cleveland and get nothing in return. They did not get the lesson from Cleveland aparantly.

Melo wont sign anyway so doesnt look like hes goin anywhere

This is totally stupid on the nuggets part, The best package they will get is from the nets, and for those of you who dont think Melo would play for the Nets this should open your eyes because the only thing that is stopping this deal is the nuggets getting greedy , not Melo !!!, Because the deal is so advanced in talks you would have to be a blind homer to think they have worked on this all this time without a word from melo~~

I cant agree there is no way melo doesnt have something to do with it. Why would he want his future team to give up 5 first rounders

This whole thing is fishy but I don't like how Ujiri's regime is acting like they call the shots...

Atleast we know he will get dealt before the deadline, he knows there will be a lockout so he has to take a deal

melo wants out .....and he wants the extension no team is not going to clear space , and devote all their time to this if they dont already have the green light....and if you notice its the nuggets holding this up not melo that should be a sign

THe nuggets are in denial, they dont realize they need to get something for him........this is the reason the deal hasnt been made ......but five picks is crazy they must be high.......they will get 3 from the nets plus favors i dont think you can ask for much more

FYI i dont think he knows the exact perimeter of the deal ,im sure they just needed assurance that he would sign the extension and maybe something along the lines of keeping Lopez.....

the more to the story is the nets being unrealis tic and not being able to pull the trigger........THis is the second time this deal has been halted by the nuggets..
