That would indicate the Reds have about $4 million to spend. "What we're looking for is veteran outfielder, preferably a left-handed hitting outfielder and an infielder who can back up at shortstop," Jocketty said. Jocketty confirmed that the Reds had spoken to agents for both Scott Podsednik and Edgar Renteria.

Podsednik is a good clubhouse guy that can help out some of those youngert players. He spent several years with the Brewers and is familiar with the NL Central. I loved having Scottie Pods on our team and hated trading him. He'd be a good addition. He brings professionalism, hustle, and good defense. He'd probably be a fourth outfielder, but he'd be great in Cincy.
