Browns eyeing Gruden, Fox?

08:37 AM ET 01.02 | There are no indications that Mike Holmgren is interested in returning to the sidelines in Cleveland, but there are indications that Holmgren will make a head coaching change. His top two targets are believed to be Jon Gruden and John Fox.

Mangini was never in Holmgren's long-term plans. Holmgren was just buying time until he had a nice selection of potential head coaches to choose from. Now he does...

B'bye Mangina. Couldn't happen to a dumber schmuck!

What a surpise...Holmgren wants his own guy. Duh!

I'm not sure a big name head coach would be successful with Holmgren. Holmgren could get a lot of talent at half the price by taking a good look at some of the young up-and-comers.

Am I the only one to realize that John Gruden won his Super Bowl with someone elses team (Tony Dungy), and when left to his own devices he stunk it up for the Bucs?

But Bill Callahan did take Gruden's team to that same Superbowl you mentioned. Kind of makes your first point moot.

All I'm saying is that he took a Super Bowl team to 7-9 and 5-11 subsequent seasons

More proof that the NFL practices recycling......Fug those guys, there is a lot of talent out there. Give em a shot!!!!!

January 2, 2011  09:49 AM ET

Gruden is only effective if he takes over a team somebody else built up, just ask Tony Dungy. Oh well, the Browns never seem to go anywhere anyway. Bring in Gruden to make sure of it.

Damn! The spam is worse on the weekend than the weekdays!!!

I don't think working for Holmgren and having him over your shoulder is real high on the list of things a top HC is looking for. Not at all. The guy who goes thee will always be number two to Holmgren....

January 2, 2011  10:26 AM ET

And why does Homey need a new coach?

All togegther now....

January 2, 2011  10:28 AM ET

Its Gruden... He absolutely loves Colt, and Colt is a perfect fit in Gruden's system...

this one is too easy.

Holmgren Looks like he's waiting for his bypass!

Gruden is seen as the leading candidate for every open coaching position at all levels of football. I read in the local paper this morning that one of our peewee Pop Warner teams was interested in seeing if he can light a fire under some of the "mama's boys" on their team.

or for something else to pass

Only in the NFL can a guy like Holmgren who ran the Seahawks into the trash pile as their GM/HC resurface as a savior.
