09:55 AM ET 01.02 | Pitt Chancellor Mark Nordenberg said in his statement that Pitt will immediately begin searching for a new coach. Athletic director Steve Pederson said he interviewed five coaches before hiring Michael Haywood, but only four were known. In addition to Mr. Haywood, the candidates included Al Golden, the former Temple coach who went to Miami (Fla.), Tulsa coach Todd Graham and Houston coach Kevin Sumlin.
