08:06 AM ET 01.03 | For the first time since he fractured his left clavicle on Oct. 25, Tony Romo said he was able to throw without pain this week. "I'm getting pretty close," he said Sunday. "If push came to shove, I wouldn't have been on IR. It would have been a difficult decision this week. I would have been pushing to play." Romo was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 21, and his season officially ended that day. But since then Romo asserted he has made marked progress in his recovery. "I thought I got back to being healthy this week," he said.

Let's just move on to the next season... whenever it may be.

Who cares? It was more important to see McGee get some game time.

January 3, 2011  09:32 AM ET

Philly pass rush would have knocked him out. We saw the game we needed with McGee. Romo, rest up for next year.

for his golf game!

Maybe with himself...

January 3, 2011  09:55 AM ET

They did the right thing by giving him the chance to heal. Why get him hurt again now?

NEXT!!!

"able to throw without pain"....but is it still painful for fans to watch him?

very much so.... romo is not the future of dallas, but we will have to wait till next season for him to prove this to everyone. also, how could he play??? he has a wedding to plan - that takes a lot of planning and prep work to pull off. guy has to keep his priorities in order!

i was actually expecting a crazed romo obessed dallas fan to break out great career passer rating & that there isn't any QB they would rather have, but you have common sense. i'm amazed

January 3, 2011  10:18 AM ET

yes romo did play Sunday....with himself.

January 3, 2011  10:22 AM ET

I'm not sure the Boys will ever win with Jones as GM and Romo as the starting QB.

real fans know it's not so much about stats as compared to what is on the shoulders.

So what do you go by then? Titles? Wins?

Because last I looked, good stats translate to Wins...wins translate to Titles.

Only 1 QB in the NFL has a better career winning percentage and that is Tom Brady.

Tony and Dallas do not have the titles, but that does not make him a bad QB or one that needs to go.

If he does go, tell me who you think will come in and win 69% of their starts???

That translates to 11 wins per season.

Please enlighten me as to who? McGee? He could barely do squat against the Eagles 2nd stringers...Kitna? He is 38. Who Else?? Name me 1 QB who is avail and not some EA Sports fantasy trade that you could do.

Tony is Dallas' future for the next 3-5 years.

Get used to it.

He still has his golf game to improve on this offseason. So between Golf and his new wife, how is Romo going to improve on his Football skills? This guy seems to have a very good skill set that could make him a top 5 QB in the league, but he seems to not have the commitment and determination that Qbs like Manning and Brady have in the offseason.

Maybe if Dallas got a back-up QB that could challenge Romo for his starting position, it could spark some QB controversy and motivate Romo. I think Romo has become complacent with his job security down in Dallas.

i'm a dallas fan... have been for 35 yrs. but all the arguements i hear "for" romo come down to stats, winning percentages and other "stuff" that simply does not transulate in to playoff wins. and to even mention romo in the same sentence with brady is humorous. brady is looking at his possibly 4th ring this season and romo is what..... looking forward to his wedding? the guy has won one playoff game. his winning percentage..... tell me what that percentage is during Nov/Dec cause it sure isn't good. romo is not getting better with this team.... how can the support still be there for a guy that was 1-4 this yr? certainly, dallas' future is not with kitna (although the team played better under him) or mcgee, but 3-5 more yrs with romo is ging to be painful. and i'd bet he won't last 5 yrs.... JJ will finally figure out romo is not going to take this team anywhere. romo will be 31 when the season starts next yr. aikman had 3 rings by 29 and was out of the game at age 34. brady is 33 and has 3 rings. when is romo going to get started on his run?? is this team getting closer after a year like this? is it all romo's fault - no. but fans cannot continue to deny he is part of the problem. we have not had a QB that lasted the number of yrs romo has lasted that has absolutely no leadership skills. the reason this team played better under kitna is because they believed in him.... he had leadership skills, had fire and emotion - something most quality QBs have. last week i saw brady screaming at his players on the sideline.... he was furious at this players and was expressing this. have you ever seen romo behave in a manner like this - NO! he looks like he couldn't care less while on the sidelines.... it is a shame dallas has a QB like romo.

Thank you. The fans that are not infatuated with Romo KNOW THIS!!!
