08:20 AM ET 01.04 | As the Rangers chase Adrian Beltre, they are also, obviously, talking about shifting Michael Young, who reportedly had reservations about moving. Upon returning from a 10-day trip to California, Young acknowledged that Rangers officials reached out to him in the last couple of days to ask him about moving to DH if the club signed Beltre. "I'll do what I have to do to stay on this team," Young said. "I'm happy to be here and proud to be part of this team. I want to stay a part of it. If it means getting the bulk of my at-bats as the DH, then that's what I'll do."

He would certainly extend his career as a DH.

And the overestimation of Beltre continues. I hope the Rangers intend on signing him to a series of one-year contracts, because that's the only way they'll get consistently good performances out of him.

a DH who is very capable on defense, unlike trotting out Papi and Vlad. But the years on Beltre's supposed offer just don't make sense.

The extent and money of Beltre's deal aside, Michael Young has to be one of the best team guys in the league right now. He is a Rangers hero and has done nothing but produce hits his hole career, and now he has no problem with a reduced role. Any team in the league would be lucky to have him.

This is the way Young has always been, with A-Rod, Soriano, Andrus. Truly a class act.

Sounds like a very good team guy. Makes me like him even more than I did before. A move to DH is one that a lot of guys would balk at because that's typically the last stop before retirement but he could be on the level that Paul Molitor was for years.

For all of Tom Hicks flops, failures and fumbles, he did get one thing right, bringing in Nolan as President.

The signing of Beltre to this contract would say just the opposite. Dumb contract.

Rangers have some huge marbles to even ask a good defensive player with a great bat to just DH while Beltre who can't seem to stay in one play gets the automatic playing time. Bad move Rangers.

I guess the Angels wasn't bidding against themselves for Beltre afterall like everyone else said they were. Gotta suck to be an Angel fan right now. First the lose Crawford. Now they're about to lose Beltre as well.

Team first mentality is what sets Michael Young apart from the others. A true class act in these days of selfish players with the me-first mentality.

I think part of Beltre's downfall in Seattle was the ballpark. In Texas, I think he will prove to be more consistent, thus the Rangers' willingness to sign him. I agree that six years at $16 mil per is too much for the guy, but I don't think he will flop as he did in Seattle.
