Earl Hughes, older brother of Notre Dame running back Robert Hughes, was killed in a shooting incident Tuesday morning in Chicago, and the freshman from Hubbard High School has been given a leave from the team to deal with the matter. A police spokeswoman said the incident is being investigated as a homicide. Irish coach Charlie Weis said the leave for Hughes is indefinite.

Let's bring out the ghouls, seeing as it's Halloween and all. G.W. Watson, Truth? Anyone? C'mon, it's not a ND thread without you dirtbags dumping on Weis and the program.

This is a traggic incident that is unfortunately part of the age we
live in today with the gun being used as the solution for all the
problems, and it is unfortunate that basically kids have to be put
through this at this stage of their lives. Our prayers are with Robert
and his family.

Feel terrible for his family and his team mates!!!! Prayers are with all of you!

Thats really a shme. ND was already having a tough time as a team this year and now this. That stinks.

October 31, 2007  12:13 PM ET

Prayers go out to his family and the community affected by this loss.

This is very tragic.
Life on the streets...early in the morning....it's sad.
Crack is really bad....really bad.
It destroys families and relationships...
This boy was probably killed for what....money?
People just get caught up in working and some in playing.....too much.
There is a price for all of the over-indulgences.
Money is really the root of all evil.
People slamming on other people...it is sick.
God bless this family and say prays for them.

It was reported in the Chicago Sun-Times that the police are
100% sure it was not drug or gang related, but that it was about
a triangle relationship. Let's not say things that could hurt the
family anymore unless it is 100% fact, Thanks.

The Truth, I think personally bashing someone who posts on here is rediculous however, this article is about a poor kid who just lost his brother and yet you still find it necessary to bash CW in your post as always. You are trully an inconsiderate and pathetic person. Why post if nothing you write is ever meaningful or even related to the topic at hand.

God bless Robert and his family. Thoughts and prayers go out to you!
