08:16 AM ET 01.06 | As Vinny Del Negro stumps for his prized rookie to play in the All-Star Game, Blake Griffin will, at the very least, be at the event to participate in the dunk contest. Griffin says in his kind of understated way that he has been thinking about the contest and may have a few ideas. "I think I'm just gonna try and get up as high as possible and throw it down as hard as possible. You know, put a little show in there, put a little pizazz and see what we can come out with. ... I've got a few things up my sleeve. I'm not showing them yet."

Maybe you should see if you could get a few of the Knicks on the floor to help with your Dunk contest...Bc that first game against the Knicks was ridiculous....

Not to be a grinch, but there's something not so exciting watching a guy listed at 6'10 dunk without anyone defending the rim......maybe I'm just old :(And PLEASE don't hurt yourself

Defense will come around....He will never be a Dwight Howard type but he could certainly become a old school McDyess type.

I thought last season was the worst contest. This season should be more of the same. Its time to change it up. How about team NBA vs the Sprite team. Didnt some guy land a 720 last year? Thats something to see.

Morning JGB...

I'm with you here. There is nothing quite so stupid as watching a guy 6'10... hell even 6'5"... run and jump and dunk the ball.

When a Spudd Webb, Dee brown or Nate Robinson does it it's one thing. But for most NBA players I couldn't be any less impressed. The ultimate insult was seeing Howard with his Superman cape... how idiotic was that one?

They should have cancelled the dunk contest forever after VC's performance.

they did then the fans complained so they brought it back and changed the rules. so now we can to watch "rising stars" miss dunks for 60 seconds

Maybe because we have seen it all already? I don't know but it used to be fun but now it seems like there isn't a whole lot new any more.

remember when jason richardson did the first new dunk in like 20 years, that was awesome
