08:36 AM ET 01.07 | Bob Stoops is optimistic about 2011, and why not? The most prolific receiver in Sooner history is coming back for one more season. And Oklahoma is officially loaded for 2011. Consensus All-American Ryan Broyles announced Thursday evening that he will return to OU for his senior year -- one day after linebacker Travis Lewis revealed he's doing the same. ... With another year, Broyles could make a major assault on the NCAA record books. He is 50 catches away from breaking the NCAA career receptions record set by Purdue's Taylor Stubblefield. With 1,576 more yards, Broyles would also set the NCAA career receiving yards record. "I want to win more championships and break every record possible as a receiver," Broyles said, also in a statement.

It sure seems like I hear this every year coming out of Norman.

Gotta believe the state of the NFL labor issue is coming into play a lot...but I could be wrong.

Feeling better and better... LOL

Actually I'm surprised any Junior is going tothe draft this year. With the lockout looming, they could be in the worst of both worlds...no NFL and no CFB....

Why should those kids in Norman take a pay cut :)

Early zinggers this morning Kdawg?

I remember another OU QB who came back and how did that work-out for OU?

January 7, 2011  09:19 AM ET

I'm don't mean to knock them as I think they return something like 17 starters. They should certainly be preseason top 5.

Yeah, he is a little bit of a smurf...but Welker blazed a trail for future NFL rug rats if they have what it takes. JJ hasn't done what his raw talent says he should have...at least not yet. So far, all hat, no cattle!

But they have an early return trip to FSU next year...and I think they were embarrassed in Norman so they should be hyped. Hate to see the loser punished too much (by the Bull Crap System) for having the guts to schedule tough OOC games. Just my hang up but should be rewarded IMO, not punished.

That trip may very well define their season.

So basically, Oklahoma will be hyped in the preseason next year like always and they'll fall short of expectations yet again? Stop me if you've heard this one before...

Pretty much my point.

January 7, 2011  09:34 AM ET

Well all I know is that they won't finish 5-7 like some Big 12 losers! Let the excuses begin... I smell a little jealousy in the air... BOOMER SOONER!!!

Basically yes but unless you mean lose in the NCG or BCS game I am not real sure what you mean by fall short.

Agree, I know of a lot of schools that would like to have been considered "falling short" because of losing a BCS Bowl or NCG. If you got there, I don't see how you can be considered "falling short"...even UConn.

That's EXACTLY what I mean.

Look, if you're expected to win a BCS Game or a National Championship, anything less is falling short. I know a lot of schools would love to be in that position right now, including mine, but once you're in that position, you better deliver or they'll be hounding you relentlessly.

He's good but my take is...OU will be ranked top 5 and as we all know where you start the season determines if you are pretty enough to qualify for the supposed NCG so in a weak B12 they have a good shot at losing another NCG.Those are some serious records he will break and barring injury he willHe's good but way behind many of the WR's coming out due to physical limitations. Julio "I have done very little but am a physical freak" Jones will get drafted ahead of him.I think money wise he would end up with more this year if the new CBA puts limits on compensation.

Yep...let's see...pre season Oregon was ranked 11 in the AP. Didn't do too bad. And Auburn was 22.

Yep, those preseason rankings sure did help....
