06:21 AM ET 01.08 | Earlier this week, team owner Stephen Ross scheduled a meeting for Friday with former NFL coach Eric Mangini, according to sources independent of the team. Dolphins sources insist the intent of the meeting was not to interview Mangini for the team's head-coaching position, but instead to pick his brain as a ``consultant'' who has ``knowledge of the division.''The meeting has since been canceled, team sources said.

Don't these owners learn ANYTHING? Some guys should not be recycled. This is one of those guys! No wonder the fins haven't been going in the right direction for years.

"but instead to pick his brain as a ``consultant''

Perhaps they ought to leave it alone and let it heal....

nice spin they tried to use so they wouldn't look so stupid wanting to interview him. He was useless on the sidelines, why would he have a clue as a consultant? Very stupid spin!

I'd hope they would cancel this meeting... hiring this **** in any capacity is plain stupid.

Agreed...Tony Soprano does as well.....

Maybe they wanted to see what Mangini's philosophy is and then do the exact opposite.

It would appear Henne has more knowledge than he can handle now.

An excellent idea. Certainly a less-travelled path to success.

Or they wanted to pick his brain on what Bill Belichick is really like.

if their intent was to pick his brain maybe they could not find a microscope powerful enough to find a brain. just sayin'.

January 8, 2011  08:43 AM ET

wait..what? knowledge of the division? like it served him so well with the Jets. hahaha!

No wonder Parcells got the hell out of there!!!

Stephen Ross is going to make Dan Snyder look competent!

They would have better luck picking his nose. Then again does he even know what a football smells like. He sure as hell doesn't know what success smells like.

Which is why the fact he's on the Cowboys' DC "list" is scary as hell to me.

Please tell me your kidding. Having a little fun a my expense? Maybe a clause in the Rooney rule that says we need more Italian coordinators in the league?

Shhhh, let the Dolphins play. I love the fact that they suck and I look forward to their continued suckage for many years.
