Bengals could get rid of Ochocinco

07:46 AM ET 01.08 | One of the more interesting sagas late in the season was whether the Bengals would pick up the last year of Chad Ochocinco's contract. It was indeed picked up -- perhaps as far back as '07 according to a copy of the contract file. So the fact of the matter is that Ochocinco is under contract for ?'11 for $6 million which is the final year of the extension he signed in 2006. However since all the bonuses are paid from that extension, the Bengals could trade or release Ochocinco since all the guaranteed money has been paid.

They seemed to play pretty well without him toward the end of the season. With Ocho, it will boil down to the B.S. factor.

If Marvin Lewis has any hopes of turning this ship around, it's time to 86 #85.

That would be the best idea Mike Brown has had since...

OK, but that doesn't fix Carson Palmer , but maybe there is no fixing to him?

A few years ago, I really liked this guy. He did goofy stuff on the field, but it was silly and all in fun. Now he just seems like a pain in the neck.

On a side note, I can't get, for the life of me, why they decided to retain Lewis as their head coach. This thing needs to be blown up entirely.

January 8, 2011  08:27 AM ET

Yawn.....

January 8, 2011  08:31 AM ET

I have no use for this guy. You can find good receivers without the "extra ****".

Agreed. That decision has "potential work stoppage" written all over it. One more year won't make any difference there.

Apparently Lewis got what he wanted from Cinci management, and Lewis is the best coach the organization is willing to pay for.

That said, the first thing Lewis should do is immediately get rid of those 2 prima donna wide receivers. They both need to get out of football & do reality TV or something.

They are already taking care of the tv part. Not that I would watch it. Has anyone watched it?
