+1...He's turned down what some consider "better" jobs than this one. Tells me something about his priorities...as much as a lot of people like to diss him/BSU, they have still done very, very well...for playing in a sisters of the poor league.

It was ten years or so ago when the Petersen's son had to be treated for a brain tumor. I read just a couple of months ago that the kid is healthy now.

Don't know about the hospitals in Boise but Palo Alto and surrounding area has some of the best medical care in the world and Stanford produces most of it.

It would be a helluva race between he and Chris Johnson. I would pay to see it.

Indeed. Peterson is from Yuba City,CA. which is only about 3 hours from Palo Alto. He would be a good fit and with Luck returning he would get some of that credibility that he is missing at BSU.

Heard from authority that the Stanford job would be a lateral move from Boise. Don't agree.
BSU is on top because of Petersen and his coaching 2 and 3 stars...think what he could do with 3 and 4 stars with the occasional 5 star....or would the higher ranked kids not "buy into" his coaching scheme? (see TU 2010)

If Petersen's stayed in Boise because he and his family are comfortable with the medical care provided to his son, then I doubt he's going to move, even to a school with a monster budget (not even UTx).

I do not think he is going to Stanford. His WR coach left for Indiana to be the OC there. In the interim Bryan Harsin Boise's OC goes to Texas to the OC there. The WR coach who just left to be the OC at Indiana is now coming bak to be the OC at Boise. I don't think he would have come back if he thought Peterson was going to Stanford.

Hope he stays at Boise State so they can keep upsetting people and upsetting fans at the traditional CF powers, lol.

If Petersen wants to keep climbing the coaching ladder, I'd say go for it. It seems over the years Stanford has been a stepping stone for better gigs.

Don't leave Boise! It's too bad the Pac 10 didn't add Boise State instead of Colorado...the Buffaloes aren't so good...Utah and BSU makes much more sense...
