11:17 AM ET 01.09 | New Miami coach Al Golden smartly has reached out to local coaches, including Central's Telly Lockett, who said Randy Shannon ignored his program. That paid dividends with Central cornerback Thomas Finnie, who changed his commitment from South Carolina to Miami -- important after UM was beaten out for defensive backs Jabari Gorman (UF) and Robenson Therezie (Auburn).

Common sense move if you ask me. Don't know what Shannon's problem was

It would be interesting to know exactly what was going on in this situation. The "EWWWW" is going to start taking in academically challenged students again?

I can question Shannon's coaching but I can't question his recruiting. All people keep saying is that he should have won more games "with all that talent". Now a coAch is mad because he ignorred his program? GET REAL.

Especially a talent hot bed like Miami.

Talent was there...Randy was just too nice of a coach, lacked the killer instinct to put teams away.

If you're going to say something like that, then you should support it--so share your stories now. Then maybe I'll change my mind that Shannon should have gotten another year to put it all together.
