Nuggets make threat to Nets

08:12 AM ET 01.11 | The Nuggets took an unusual approach to dealing with the Nets on Monday. Before resuming trade talks for Carmelo Anthony, the Denver Nuggets delivered a stern warning to the New Jersey Nets: Unless the public nature of these trade discussions becomes private, be warned that we will send Anthony to the New York Knicks. Nothing else the Nuggets could've said would send such chills of unease through the Nets, and that's why Denver made the threat, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Would the Nuggets do such a thing out of spite? Would they take a lesser package out of vengeance? No one could be sure, but it sure delivered one more element of drama and intrigue to these trade talks.

Umm is the Knicks is where Carmelo wants to go to anyways? Not sure if Denver is in the driver seat here.

This story comes from Adrian W. who consistently makes up stuff out of whole cloth.

Denver is skating on this ice...they have been offered several fair deals. If they keep backing out at the last minute, they could end up with next to nothing. Reminds me of the Roy Halladay trade/no trade with the Blue Jays a couple years ago

if i was melo i would just play my year out and then decide where i want to go .. that way he can actually go visit with all teams he might want to joint and not just the knicks.. i think the bulls ,knicks, and im biased lol the wizards should be his options. he would have amare in ny, he would have derrick rose and boozer in chicago, and a young jhon wall , nick young ,javal mcgee, and andray blatche in washington.. if he went to washington i could see them becoming instant contenders..

This drama is becoming worse than the Queen drama! I AM SICK OF IT!!!
Nets or Knicks, whoever, just complete the deal, and let's move on with the season!! WE HAVE A WONDERFUL SEASON going on, and this drama is dragging us down!

With soo much attention on the Heat, naturally the Lakers, Knicks - for their improvement, and 'Melo-Drama thing, it appears that SA and DAL are quietly surging under the radar. Good for them! SA especially is looking extremely dangerous with so many 4thQ comeback wins.

Knicks need to pull out of trade talks with Denver. It is oblivious that they are just being used a bait for Denver to get a better deal with the Nets. If he is available in free agency then, they should go after him, if not move on. No sense in giving up the entire team for one player, regardless of how good he is. Plus if he signs as a free agent, that strengthens the Knicks bench with Chandler. Don't do the trade Donnie.

The problem is that the Nuggets can talk all they want, in the end Carmello has to sign off on any trade...

I've said it before and I'll say again; the Nuggets are going to end up with nothing. And if they're too stupid to get this deal done, they deserve to become the next generation of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Of course Denver is in the drivers seat.....at least as it pertains to whether Carmelo gets traded because he does NOT have a no trade contract.

Denver can call the shots when dealing with teams that are willing to taking a risk that they can sign Carmelo to an extention before the end of the season, that won't be impacted by a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. And the Nets apparently are willing to take the risk that they can sign him to an extention.

If Carmelo does sign elsewhere as a free agent, he can go to a team of his choosing......but for a lot less $$$$$ than if he signs the extension. And when it's said and done.....Carmelo wants to win AND get paid!

Finally.....NJ is pretty darn close to NY. If Carmelo feels that the Nets have a future with him and who they surround him with, he may just be inclined to sign that extention.......

He may just decide to do that.....but he may STILL get traded in the mean time; he can't control THAT.

No......it's not.

MELO= DRAMA QUEEN OF 2011!!!

Carmelo has the "keys to the car here." If the Nuggets make some assinine trade, Carmeko can simply refuse to sign the extension. For this reason, nobody is going to be willing to deal with them. He'll walk in July, and it will be years before the words Denver and playoffs are used in the same sentence.
