08:21 AM ET 01.11 | Multiple sources, including Rich Aurilia, say Pablo Sandoval's conditioning work in Arizona is paying off. Phoenix resident Aurilia saw Pablo at a shopping mall just before Christmas. Sandoval told him he had lost 17 pounds. Last week, Sandoval was in Venezuela and held a news conference at a baseball museum. According to reports in the Venezuelan papers, Sandoval said he lost 16 "kilos" with the goal of dropping 24 by the start of spring training. I've been told that something got lost in the translation and he meant "pounds."

09 was his year but 2010 was very disappointing. So yeah he needs to do something for 2011. Lucky for him uribe is gone. Otherwise he might find himself again riding the pine.

Especially on the road. Looking at his splits he hit well at home.

I predict Sandoval has a huge bounce back year in 2011.

If he doesn't lose weight, he can join fat Melky Cabrera in Kansas City. He'll love the KC steak houses and barbecue joints. It sure beats eating beans every day.

He's still a fat toad that will eventually eat himself out of baseball

Maybe the kilos were describibg something else that he lost....

There was a couple situations like that in the regular season too. Really funny, but sad.

Melky had to stop sliding head first because he would roll forward and swallow a bunch of brick dust. He did a great immitation of a teeter-totter out there.

Melky always ran from his shoulders, odd watching him run even prior to packing on his winter weight.

The 'belly' slide.... the only thing touching the ground is their stomach.

Giambi used to do the Belly flop. slid all of two feet.

Too bad his winter weight increased during the summer. I guess, in retrospect, the daily all-you-can-eat tapas bar in the clubhouse was a poor idea.

Maybe Hollywood will make another movie.
