08:58 AM ET 01.12 | Trent Baalke pledged to seek a new quarterback for the 49ers, whether by draft, trade or free agency. "Is the quarterback of the future on this roster? I think it's obvious that he isn't at this point, but things could change and they will change through one of those three vehicles," Baalke said in a radio interview. ... Vernon Davis said he would "love to catch passes from Donovan McNabb," during an appearance on The T. Ocho Show, which aired Tuesday night on Versus. Davis said he would support whichever quarterback the 49ers bring in before adding: "having Donovan McNabb, that would be outstanding."

After catching passes from the Smith Brothers, I'm sure Davis would love catching passes from ANYONE else.

"said this during an appearance on The T. Ocho Show"

In other words this column is the only way we'd know about this quote.

Oh...well if it was said on the T. Ocho Show it must be newsworthy.

Smith Brothers? They are better at coughdrops than qb's.

They just need a stop gap guy while a draft pick is groomed. McNabb ain't the QB of the future for anybody.

McFlabb, coming soon to a team near you.

I'll take anyone who watch that show as a "hardworking journalist". On a related note, I heard that Snooki thought the Jets should blitz more.

Snooki is more worried about splitting the uprights.

Everytime I hear someone say they want McNabb as their quarterback, it makes me wonder just how familiar they are with his game.

January 12, 2011  10:04 AM ET

Well Vern,( may I call you Vern?) as long as you're about 10 feet away, with no defense on the field, max-protect O line in place and Donovan has had about 2 weeks rest there is a real chance that he can get the ball to you.

January 12, 2011  10:11 AM ET

I'm sure T.O. must have had something to say about that.

True, only thing is McNabb is slow, won't run the west coast Off quickly enough.
Still its interesting except his salary, which niners don't need, with such an older player.
Youth is the 49ers future.

McNabb to the Vikings? They seem to like aging QBs.
