History suggests Beckett's in trouble

08:20 AM ET 01.13 | Rather than a bump in his career, Josh Beckett's woeful 2010 may instead hint at more serious concerns. Virtually every pitcher to struggle like Beckett did last season not only was never the same, but almost always failed to produce a single, solitary above-average season thereafter. The results are actually kind of staggering. And while they have no bearing on whether Beckett will bounce back in 2011, they should at least give Red Sox fans pause following last year's 6-6, 5.78 ERA disaster that can only partially be chalked up to injuries.

Those stats are horrible...

... it makes his 2006 stats look decent.

I still believe, if healthy, he wins 15+ games with a sub 4.00 ERA in 2011.

Crain seems like a good acquisition. Ohman kind of sucks. Also, the team has no closer.

LOL! Yeah- honestly it will push Galarraga to a swingman or will be traded now. It is for the best. Penny was doing pretty well before- and we are only looking for a 5th man. More than likely we will keep Galarraga and he will wait in the wings in case Penny gets hurt (very likely) or will be the swingman that steps in when he gets too high in the pitch counts early in. I am not "excited" but of all the contracts we doled out this off season- its the one I have the least problem with actually... Overpaid in alotta others.
Tho now it appears we are targeting a lefty reliever...
Lord. Picked up Inge, Peralta, Magglio, V-Mart, Benoit, and now Penny and soon another lefty... Freaking ridiculious. Although we will have an ugly bullpen...
