08:54 AM ET 01.16 | The Patriots were the best team money could buy in 2010. You don't think of them as a collection of high priced superstars, but a league source said the Patriots had the highest payroll in the NFL at $148 million. A good chunk of that payroll went into the pockets of Tom Brady, who during the season signed an extension that made him the NFL's highest paid player.

Worth every penny if they win the Super Bowl. Money down the drain if they don't.

I hate to say it, but I think they're going to win it all this year.

$148 million...... That is going to sting when the new CBA is in place with the "Cap".

They do spend wisely though. Excepting of course the Adalius Thomas fiasco.

I saw part of that game. They're both good teams; I thought it was going to go right down to the wire.

A well spent 148 million so far I'd say.

Well, at least they are really good, so the money isn't a big deal in their case.

It's not like this is the Yankees with a 200 million salary and say the Marlins with a 14 million salary. I'm sure all 32 teams are close together in salary spent.

True... although the Bengals and Cardinals will soon be neared to the minimum than the maximum - it's in their DNA.

Agreed. The difference is that the NFL actually enforces its salary cap. You can't "buy" a team in the NFL. The new CBA better keep it that way.

Apparently smart money because they seem pretty loaded with youth and draft picks too. They are the lesser of the evils in the AFC now, would love to see them light up a superbowl with GB in a shootout.
