08:04 AM ET 01.17 | Tom Cable was reportedly fined $120,000 by Al Davis earlier this season as a result of the team forfeiting two days of organized team activities in June. The ESPN report cited "team sources" behind the revelation that Cable was fined by Davis. Two current Raiders employees said Cable no doubt is the one leaking the information. ... Midway through the season, Cable told Bay Area News Group that people "would be stunned if they knew what I'm being forced [by Davis] to do out here." When told that people probably had a fair idea, Cable snapped: "[People] have no idea. It's going to come out soon, though."

It's Al Davis. No surprise here.

Not a Cable fan, but Al was crazy to fire him. He was turning the team around - actually competitive. Don't blame Cable for being mad.

Why do I get the feeling that Tom Cable was actually happy to get fired?

It's certainly not going to make it any easier for Al to find another HC.

Yup. This can of worms is just starting to pry open.

Cable doesn't look like the type of person you want to mess with. Take notice weird Al.

The first promising season in a decade and the end result is Davis firing the coach. A competent coach with a spine like Madden, Flores and Gruden who were men enough not to just sit, listen and take the crap the senile Davis is trying to shovel/dictate because they knew it wasn???t in the best interest of the men who suit up on Sunday???s.

As a life-long Raider fan I hate to say it after this year; but Cable, let it fly brother. Tell every story you???ve experienced under Davis so current and future players and coaches know not to come to this organization (not that they already don???t; just reaffirm it) until Davis sells the team, publicly announces he no longer will have anything to do with football operations as demonstrated by hiring a GM, or he is deceased.

Good luck with your tenure Jackson as you watch a talented list of free agent players bail as fast as they can as soon as the new bargaining agreement is reached. But who knows, maybe Davis will pass soon and you may actually survive more than two years?????

Remember, Tom. A wooden stake, into the heart. It's the only way.

"Cable just beginning to grind ax?"

An ax??? I always thought of Cable as a more 'hands-on' kind of guy.

He needs the ax to sharpen that wooden stake.

which franchise is in worse shape - Skins or Raiders?

January 17, 2011  09:58 AM ET

Al Davis is a "PUTZ", Cable, a coach that wins all his division games gets the ax. what a moron he is.

Something needs to happen with the Raiders. Al has been an embarrassment to long.

The players didn't like him and he should have been canned long ago for punching out one of his coaches. He's a thug that leads by intimidation. Now he's fueding with the owner?Weird as Al is he has a lot of pull in the league owning one of the most storied franchises.
