Dallas interested in Randolph

08:39 AM ET 01.17 | Might a former Dallas-area prep star wind up back in Big D? There will undoubtedly be a connection built between the Mavericks and abundantly available Anthony Randolph, who indications suggest will be traded by the Knicks within the next few days/weeks or before the trade deadline. Don't go crazy with the idea that the former Woodrow Wilson High School phenom is headed back to Dallas. The Mavericks have a couple of players already -- the highly thought of Ian Mahinmil, and Alexis Ajinca -- who already are similar to the talented Randolph. The Mavericks have some interest in Randolph, for sure. And he would be an intriguing piece to add in the absence of Caron Butler. But there are a lot of bridges to cross before that happens.

Ah, the three teams mention for Randolph, can take him with only sending a Pick back NO Players, .... Minny under the CAP, Indiana & Portland have Trade Exceptions to take him with. Guess Dallas does too from Carroll and Najera, but why to groom Anthony as a replacement for Dirk in 3 years at pF?

.... but somebody please tell me why is Anthony worth a first round pick.

QUOTE(#5):

Zach would be nice but he seems to be untouchable right now and Dallas don't have what Memphis wants that will match Zach's salary... Randolph for any of the French 7 footers would work w/ NY. Randolph is not being used in NY and they need a 7 footer in their lineup... So yes, the trade makes sense....

I'm not so sure about Anthony Randolph to Dallas move as he's been on the bench all season. Moreso why will a team with championship aspirations take on a project?

Still not enough, Bro.

Randolph has been on the NY bench because HE CAN'T PLAY!!!! Now you wanna go give a first rounder for him, so he can come warm YOUR bench?? Jeeez

And I feel Walsh in NY is blowing smoke on this .... I mean he been saying Anthony for a First round pick most of the season .... Just Do It! then ... cause I do not see any team giving up a first round pick unless it is well LOTTERY Protected for the next five years ... remember Anthony was only a 14st pick in 2008

Dont you have ENOUGH big men?!?!? YOU STILL WON'T WIN!!!

January 17, 2011  11:03 AM ET

to tell you the thruth i don't know what dallas need.

January 17, 2011  11:21 AM ET

That would be a nice move for DAL...i wonder how many times teams will give up on Randolph before he starts coming into his own.

QUOTE(#11):

It's a project for a project. NY is not using Randolph and they need a 7 footer. Dallas has too many 7 footers and in need of a young forward who can shoot and maybe play down low. Amar'e will play most of Randolph's minutes that's why he will never see anymore playing time. Randolph becomes a backup to Dirk and Marion will now play the SF...

Randolph is a versatile young player that can play multiple positions but the fact that he hasn't been able to crack a barely playoff team rotation means he's not ready to be back up on a championship team... so why Cuban.. why? Let the guy to NBA's project heaven like Minny or Indiana. It's about winning - not writing pretty reports or having something ear-pleasing to publish.

This is a horrible story....They do need some help but getting a guy that hasnt contributed ANYWHERE he has been isnt getting help....Im surprised this guy is still in the league...

I dont care who they get to replace butler.. but unless Terry,Kidd and Marion play their best postseason of their entire career they have no shot against the Spurs...because they look like they are getting better and meaner...
