08:04 AM ET 01.18 | Saying he didn't even want to go to Philadelphia in the first place, Michael Vick now may want to stay. Vick thinks staying in Philadelphia gives him the best chance to successfully carry out the second phase of his career in the NFL. He confirmed as much during an interview with John Clark of NBC10 that aired Sunday night. "Absolutely, absolutely," Vick said, when asked if Philadelphia was the best place for him to play football. "I know we're only going to get better as a team. I would love to stay here, love to be here, and I think this team gives me the best chance of winning a Super Bowl."

They franchise him at the very least and keep Kolb in his last year of his current extension for insurance.

I know more than a few Iggles fans that are shaking their heads right now...

Eagle fans don't really shake their heads, that is just DT tremors . It is a twelve step program and they are still on step one after fifty plus years.

Best for both Vick and the team. Kolb is left out in the kold, of kourse, but so far he's proven that he's probably a kareer klipboard guy, anyway.

Vick has the Eagles by the short hairs. They have no faith in Kolb and they shouldn't, and he wants out. There is no other option out there for them. If there is a tag next year, they will have to use it on him, OR pay him premium dollars longer term with some serious guaranteed money because Vick knows darn well that there will be such offers from another team or two or three.

If there is a tag, I'm sure that is what will happen. I'd want Vick to repeat what he did this year, with less injuries... before I opened the millions to him.

I don't think that Kolb is a career backup, as he did prove that he could hold down the starting job. He lost out to a QB who blossomed and whose unique talents made the Eagles look at him as the future of the franchise. Vick will either be franchised or get a new extension, while Kolb will either wait out his last year, or a QB starved team like the Vikings trades for him.

He always seems to be one hit away from the IR.

OOH wow did you ever think you will write this stuff about Vick 6 months ago. Philly needs Vick and he owes it to them. they loved him and signed him when every team and every fan hated him. He is loyal to them because they were loyal to him. It is two way street. I doubt he will go any where even for more money. Thay should trade Kolb and sign a veteran for back-up job.

Show me a QB who does not get injured. With Vick running and scoring Touchdown Injury is normal. Even teh babies who hide behind teh **** of the OL get injured too.

Vick will be back. Depending on the CBA, it could be an extension. Or it could simply be Franchise Tag. Kolb will return, unless a 1st round pick is dangled. He is too valuable as a backup and is only making $1.5 million in 2011. Again, the CBA will affect his trade status.
The fact that Andy fired McDermott shows a couple of things are going on in the Eagles Front Office. The GM, Howie Roseman, is taking on a much larger role than people think.... and Andy is starting to get into "Win Now" mode. For years, its been build for the future. I think with the Michael Vick - Kevin Kolb switch, we saw first hand that Andy is starting to change his ways.
You will see a couple things happen this offseason with the Eagles. The Defense will be completed. I would bet good money, that Nhamdi will be signed. AND the O-line will be rebuilt. Jason Peters and Todd Herrimans will be the only starters that are safe.

Vick took too many shots IN THE POCKET. That is what has to be cut down on. When he was running, he rarely took a direct hit. Taking shots in the pocket is a direct result of having a sieve for an offensive line. The Center, Right Guard, and Right Tackle are blackholes on this offense. And they just so happen to handle Vicks blindside since Vick is lefthanded.

It's not just the line... Since Vick has wanted to prove that he is not a run first QB, he is trying to make plays with his arm... and holding the football way to long. He definately has the ability to be a top 5 QB in the league, but he still has some work to do.... He wasted so much time in Atlanta that he could really have improved his game, now he's trying to do it at 30+

Is the 12 YEAR fatso andy experiment finished yet??? Hey lurie---- how many more years of being a LOSER does it take??? Offensive line is like "peanut butter" ---- you got rid of your best defensive players --- and now the entire NFL has figured out the Convict Vick!! Fatso is the common denominator in all your Failed Schemes--- got rid of everyone except him.... lurie-- this makes you Americ's Biggest MORON!!

It is your dream, have at it. But the man neeeds money and was used to it. Philly needs Vick and they and he know it. Vick? He needs money. And he will get it, from somebody. He will most likely stay there, but it will not be at some hometown discount.
Until they resolve the Vick situation they can do nothing with Kolb. Trade him if you can because he is out of there after next year regardless. Get what you can for him. A third rounder seems about right.
