Pistons better off without Rip

08:13 AM ET 01.18 | Even if fans are chanting, "We want Rip," Richard Hamilton and the Pistons are bound for a breakup. Hamilton and roughly 35 other people watched the Pistons beat the Dallas Mavericks, 103-89, at the Palace on Monday, and it is obvious now: The Pistons are better off without Rip, and he is better off without the Pistons. ... This is a marriage that had incredible highs and doesn't work anymore. The sooner it ends, the better. The Pistons are 3-1 since coach John Kuester started giving Hamilton the old "DNP-JB" ("Did Not Play -- Just Because"). On the floor, in the public perception, and probably in the locker room, the Pistons need the post-Rip era to begin.

That is impressive. Maybe they should have done this in the beginning of the season.

Dang. 35 people, lol.

Amazed that they won though!

They need to just blow up the whole team including management.

Just a sad effort shown yesterday by the Mavs...They had no energy or acted like they wanted to play or be there...

January 18, 2011  08:56 AM ET

Ths collection of players just never had a chance......
They are all sf's and sg's
Problem is all their players, otherthan tay have years left....

But the bigger question is why hasn't joe d made a move already?
I mean we saw last year that this collection doesn't work
What s he waiting for?

So Rip gets benched and a bad team like Detroit goes 3-1. And this is supposed to be the guard Melo will be pairing with along with Methusala Billups to win a championship. Lol. I expect those trade crap to end. Melo's not getting into no good situation in New Jersey but if he wants the money so be it.

You can argue Rip and Billups are expiring contracts which sounds good. But reality is those guys will leave Nets to hump on championship teams so where does this leave Melo and the Nets after next season? No point guard, no shooting guard, no power forward,... just Melo and a bunch of rookies to go with Lopez who looks like he's past his prime. They will be in rebuilding for sure so I don't know what Prokorov has to sell...

Meanwhile NY is already established with a superstar and good pieces in place. I can't see how Melo will want to go pair up with this guy. This should be a one horse race for Knicks. Walsh is getting the picks.... we're ready to roll. Welcome home Melo!!

Why are you even commenting to me? What you rambled on about has nothing to do with my statement...

I'm guessing the new CBA could have some impact on what GMs are willing to do right now. Why pay premium dollars when you may get guys cheaper next year.

Hard to believe this team was in the finals about 5 years ago

I careless about your statement. I write whatever I want on whatever thread I chose... it's called freedom to pick and choose. I hope you can grasp that concept.

He believes in miracles like Houston.

This team needs some real bigs...not all these shooters, there is not an ounce of grit on this squad unless you're talking about Maxiell but then again look who we're talking about here... an undersized big... blow it all up and get some meaningful talent on this roster... there's alot of veteran talent to spread to all the playoff contenders for expiring contracts and draft picks...

I can not grasp that concept...It would be similar to you grasping the concept of REALITY.....Its just not going to happen....My your brother Lost Bill will show up and beat some sense into you or kickstart that hamster on a wheel brain of yours....

Rip should asked to be traded to the Hornets, they could use em right about now.
