08:08 AM ET 01.20 | Ike Taylor is putting friendships aside Sunday. Taylor told The Post yesterday that he won't hesitate to "lay out" his close friend Santonio Holmes in the AFC title game against the Jets if the right situation presents itself. Taylor and Holmes, the former Steeler, are offseason workout partners and as tight as brothers, but Taylor said that friendship will be put on hold for three hours this weekend at Heinz Field. Taylor's chilling message: If that means hurting Holmes, then so be it. "I love him and that's my boy, but when we get between those white lines, it's a whole different deal," Taylor said in an interview with The Post after practice. "I'm going to try to be as disrespectful as possible once we get between those white lines," the veteran Pittsburgh starter said. "Friendship doesn't enter into it then."

Wow...those trash talking Steelers are bad for the game. They're always running their mouths. I'm sick of hearing from them.

Personally I'm torn between my long standing dislike of the Steelers and my long term disgust of the Ryan family.

You shouldn't paint the sons with their father's brush. Neither of them, far as we know, is a violent joyless curmudgeon. If their names were Weisenthal you probably wouldn't find them nearly as distasteful.

How about this: The Steelers could be playing a Super Bowl in the Cowboys house and the Cowboys have hired Buddy Ryan's son. I cannot believe how the world has turned upside down. I have heard that the Earth's poles are shifting, but...

Pedigree is important in football. Take for example the Chargers decision to draft Ryan Leaf over Payton Manning. Leaf just got out of the prison across town and Payton is once again a playoff contender. Now we have one of the Ryan boys bringing their loosing ways to Dallas. I don't understand why Garrett thinks he is qualified to be a defensive coordinator.

I liked Buddy Ryan...
... aggressive defensive coordinator and coach that believed in putting QB's on their back.
I luv the Old School type of football.

My two favorite AFC teams. The Pats are spectators. Great year! Santonio will catch a corner fade over Taylor and the Jets get back to the promised land after a 42-year wait.

Buddy's biggest problem, coaching-wise, is that he thought of the defense as "my guys" and the offense as "those arseholes". That's why he always fell short. It's tough to win when half your team knows you don't represent them.

Shhhhh.... with Ike you never know when the next head-to-head shot is coming. If he can't catch him, he might just take him out.

The Chargers drafted Leaf second that year, behind Peyton Manning.

The guy I'm worried about the head shots from is Harrison. There's no dirtier player in the NFL....maybe Finnegan.

Holmes won't have to worry about Ike since Sanchez will be on his back most of the game. I don't think you can call Harrison the dirtiest in the game. He plays clean and intense. Richard Seymour, Ray Lewis, Ngata...these are dirty players. If you don't want to get hit, stay in the kitchen.

No doubt. The title sounds like a plot of a LMN movie.
