08:49 AM ET 01.23 | The Mavericks' offense needs help. So how much will Peja Stojakovic help matter? Much depends on the health of the sharpshooting veteran, who is on track to sign with the Mavericks on Monday. The league is looking into the potential transactions - which include the trading of Alexis Ajinca - but it is expected to approve the moves. If Stojakovic's knee s cooperate, he will be in line to collect a large portion of minutes at small forward and perhaps start there. The Mavericks need his ability to spread the court. Opponents cannot leave the 6-9 Stojakovic when he is stationed on the 3-point line.

If he gets "big" minutes, then we are in trouble.

IMO Peja is good pick up for the Mavs, especially at the price. He may not have that spring in his step that he had before, but when he gets hot he can still light it up. And he's going to be there 3rd or 4th option...

QUOTE(#2):

Minutes where? The bench? The training table?

You stole my line. Lots of minutes on the bench.
IMO, a boneheaded move to clear a roster spot for someone that will spend 90% time on the bench. Peja is DONE. D O N E. His body quit cooperating YEARS ago.
I'm not sure what Dallas is seeing in him that No one else is.

Why did we sign this spare? Why arent we trading everything to get a shot at it this year? Why dont we have melo or a descent replacement for Butler yet?

January 24, 2011  10:41 AM ET

Because the Mavs are pretty much pretenders ... just like the last 10 years. Wake me when the playoffs start.
