Cutler ripped by contemporaries, ex-players

08:02 AM ET 01.24 | The immediate reaction to Jay Cutler not finishing Sunday's playoff game, from fans and fellow players alike, was far from merciful. The Bears said all the right things about Cutler's injury in the postgame news conferences, but public perception is going in a very different direction. And in Cutler's case, it starts with the guys who take the field and have a different level of understanding when it comes to putting it all out on the field. And we probably shouldn't invite Cutler and Maurice Jones-Drew to the same offseason barbecue. ... Said Jones-Drew: "Hey I think the urban meyer rule is effect right now... When the going gets tough........QUIT.."

Knew this was coming!

Conversely...I thought Sancheezie was done after that hard hit on his arm. Good luck Jay!

January 24, 2011  08:04 AM ET

It's just a game, he got injured, get over it.

January 24, 2011  08:04 AM ET

And the problem is?

I thought the Steelers were going to blow the Jets out, NY put up quite a fight, it's just too bad they were a foot short.

He didn't look hurt walking up and down that side line though. and that is what is ticking people off!

Word... Only thing people saw was a little blood.

Jet fans were whining about that one... Even if it was a pass, it would've been a turnover, because it was lateral.

Like I said yesterday - anything other than a torn ligament and this dude has a tag it'll be hard to remove...

Gutless!

Typically you don't see a ball going that far backwards if the arm was going forward with the ball.

Another disappointment from that QB draft class.

His non chalant attitude, which he always bears, doesn't help much either.

I do not know about anyone else but I would have to be carried off in a stretcher to quit in a NFGC title game.

Especially after training for that moment, your entire life.

BTW, thanks for the warning Yahoo! Sports. I was planning on inviting Cutler and MJD to a BBQ this summer. Now, I'll need to invite Vince Young instead of MJD. Cutler and VY have a lot in common.

Morning lads.

Can't help but agree. He did look a tad forlorn throughout the game. Still, who can say if he really was injured? Only he can.

January 24, 2011  08:15 AM ET

For some reason I feel a Cutler for McNabb trade rumor on the horizon....

That's true too... I remember when everyone chastized Phil Simms' son for an injury once, came to find out the guy had to get his spleen removed.

I liked that NFL films thing they showed before the game. shows Cutler in Denver crying like a baby at the other players.

If you really want to increase your head count invite Cromartie and the family.
