08:03 AM ET 01.25 | Many have backed off their criticism of Jay Cutler after Sunday's real-time ripping of the Chicago quarterback, and perhaps for good reason. The head physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers said Cutler should not have finished the game and insisted he was fortunate that he didn't endure a more serious knee injury. "With a little bit more force, the next thing to go, in that situation, is the ACL," said Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the orthopedic surgeon at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles and team doctor for Dodgers. "So anybody who has a Grade II or Grade III that doesn't have an ACL injury is lucky."

Lucky like Rodney Dangerfield.

Oh, right, well, I'll put his poster back up on my wall.

It doesn't change the fact that he got shown up by a 3rd stringer.

Two facts come out of this. Cutler is a tough guy, and really was hurt. Cutler is a jerk and nobody really likes him.

Cutler must feel like the luckiest guy in the world today.

January 25, 2011  08:20 AM ET

just cuz the guy's a jerk/emotionless/ turnover machine doesn't mean he's soft .....get well soon

Where do I get the feeling that had to hurt more than his knee?

If all it would have taken to appease the fans & elderly NFL players, was for Cutler to jump up & down & yell at Lovie 'Don't take me out coach I want to play' then that's ridiculous. Body language is overrated.

Packer (Aaron Rodgers) fan here, but I like Cutler like him or not this talk was unfair.
Fans and media should beack off, go after that whimp Rodger Goodell, & labor union.

January 25, 2011  08:31 AM ET

He does have these goofy infantile tendencies. But I must say he can chuck that pigskin.

January 25, 2011  08:34 AM ET

F Cutler... If it were Vince Young you guys wouldn't let off him.

January 25, 2011  08:34 AM ET

Unless I missed it I didn't hear any quotes from the NFL expert on QB's and their tendencies...the esteemed T.O.

The Commish, yes. But how about the owners? They're the real problem here. Yeah, the players seem greedy, but most of them don't get the mega-salaries, and a lot of them will be cripples or mental-midgets by the time they're forty from injuries suffered in their short careers.

The owners want to keep more of the profits, and make the players play two more regular-season games, besides.

If it were Vince Young we wouldn't be talking about a playoff game, either.

T.O. sprouts a brain about once a season...especially if he needs a job.

The only fact that matters about this dude ... Cutler is a D_ouche and has acted like one his entire career so far. No wonder McDaniels got rid of him.
