08:20 AM ET 01.25 | In an effort to remain in his workout routine, Justin Morneau will miss Minnesota's TwinsFest event this weekend. The decision was made by general manager Bill Smith, who said Morneau is on a specific workout program and it's more important for him to keep on track. "It's still a work in progress," Smith said, "but he has made tremendous progress since the end of the season. That's why I don't want to set that back." ... Smith is confident that Morneau will be ready to start the regular season with the club -- but wants Morneau to stick to his workout plan. And the next few weeks are important.

Priorities dude, heal the noggin.

take your time...no need to rush back and risk reinjury

It would be very unfortunate for baseball if he doesn't make it back.

There is a regimin for noggin recovery???

January 25, 2011  10:45 AM ET

lets hope he gets back to his ol' self quickly. Span-Mauer-Young-Morneau-Cuddyer-Thome-Valencia-Casilla(UHG!!!) then new Japanese Player 9th. that would be my lineup. hopefully the young staff can improve....Liriano / Pavano / Duensing / Slowey / Baker. if Neshek can get back to 2008 form we'll be OK in pen with Mijares/Capps/Nathan. cant wait for baseball

Seriously, how long does it take to recover from a 'mild' concussion? Morneau's really dragging this one out

problem is that it isn't his first. he had one as a kid and one other one as a big leaguer.

He's had several concussions, moron. Have you not paid attention? Or were you concussed as a child?

This story does not portend well for the Twins. I wish him well, but taking this long to recover and after having had multiple bouts with concussions, it doesn't look like a long career is in store for Mr. Morneau.
