Young doesn't view himself as DH permanently

08:25 AM ET 01.25 | Even after the Rangers' acquisition of Adrian Beltre, Michael Young may not be ready to give up his glove. Speaking at a fan event, Young said that he still feels like he will make an impact offensively and defensively this season. That's more than a little surprising because, as it stands right now, Young will need to be the DH if he's in the lineup on a daily basis. He's determined not to let anyone view him that way, however. "I'm still doing the exact same work because I don't consider myself a DH," Young said. "I consider myself a baseball player. And everything I wanted to work on before this happened I've still been working on. This isn't something I think I'm going to be doing permanently. My goals for the season are to have a big year and play for a winning team."

He'll get plenty of time in the field, what with injuries, slumps and the slightly warm temps in the summer, guys will get time off. Don't worry Michael.

Young reckons that he will be back fielda position as soon as Beltre runs into a teammate or two and breaks their ribs.

no offense, your heiness, but the term "Class Act" is bandied about way too often in sports today. while it may appear that Michael Young is morally sound, if you dig deeper you may disocver that he does in fact, hate puppies and kittens.and besides, we all know that the only players that are class acts are on the red sox. and as soon as they leave the team, they are bungholes

When men don those classic Red Sox uniforms they take on a distinct appearance. Kind of like the gold aura that ESPN used on their SportsCentury episodes. If they can make Jerry Izenberg look good anything can
