08:42 AM ET 01.25 | Nicklas Lidstrom isn't naming names, though he did say he, Patrick Kane and Martin St. Louis want to have fun selecting their All-Star team. Lidstrom did offer one bit of strategy. He said it might not be a bad idea to select Carolina goalie Cam Ward before Carolina's Eric Staal, the opposite captain, gets the opportunity. The game is in Raleigh, N.C. "I know [Staal] wants Cam on his team, being in front of the home crowd and everything," Lidstrom said. "So might be a good strategy to take him and maybe take the crowd out of it and get the crowd on our side a little bit."

"... he did say he, Patrick Kane and Martin St. Louis want to have fun selecting their All-Star team."

Want to have fun with it? Use the "pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey method." And, make sure you use live donkeys.

They kicked some Pred butt, no easy feat.

If they end up with first pick they'll take Stamkos.

We should have a pool to guess who'll get picked last.

Phil Kessel. Even in a meaningless game, these guys won't want a guy with no heart on their squad.

If this was a real game or even shinny I'd agree with you OC but I've thought about it and Kessel's absolutely perfect for the ASG. He'll be the only one there that's used to no contact and stick checking only. Maybe he'll even wear his full face shield from the US Women's team where he obviously honed his skills.

Good point...and, like Gaborik, he's a pro at scoring his points when the game doesn't matter anymore...

Canuck makes a good argument against Kessel going last. Hank would pick one the Sedins last we know. I'll go with Elias. None of the captains and assistants like him.

Bettman probably tells them who to pick. This along with the outdoor games are a total gimmick. Just play the games and put more of them on TV.
